Great Year From Steven King
This is a bloke who hasn't been able to string together a 20 game season since 2002 and he played 22 games for us this year, out of a possible 25.
Everyone thought he was done and he's come out and been solid for us all year.
18.5 Hitouts per game
11 Disposals per game
2.7 tackles per game
While those numbers aren't awesome, they are solid.
It was good to have a solid ruckman in the team for once.
Well done Kingo you big cu*t.

Adam Schneider has also been solid however a little disappointing. He is actually a fantastic leader, often encouraging blokes who have just been beaten in a contest or given away a big free kick. The Saintsational Man wrote:That wasn't a hard accolade to win.....SaintBot wrote:Probably our best recruit for the season.
Dempster has been the biggest surprise. I rated him as a stopper when we got him however his run out of defence and the occasional long goal really proved his worth. Shattered he probably won't be playing until 2010.
Charlie, well he's been what we expected. Good for depth, doesn't do much wrong but really doesn't add much to the side.
Kingy's been great this year and hopefully on the back of a full season this year there's a bit of improvement in him yet. Since he's beent here his attitude has been great and he's been a good leader aound the place too.
I love his physicality and the way he flies the flag. He dropped Robbie Campbell pretty good after he roughed up Nick.

Has been a very handy recruit, it's just a shame we had to take Charlie Gardiner with him.
He's been surprisingly durable, has learnt to work with our midfielders and he's easily the strongest player at the club. Compare his build to our other past ruckmen (Kosi, Rix, Blake, M.Clarke, Ackland) and it's damn obvious why Geelong have got the edge over the rest of the competition. He and BJ are the only two players at the club capable of putting anyone over 60kgs on their arse.

Kingy has been very consistent this year, and has been our best ruckman since Everitt IMO. If he can keep his body in decent condition, he could play for another 2-3 years.
Trust the Midas Touch

I agree I'v really come to like Kingy he has been a really good contributor to our team. He is a very experienced ruckmen that has defiantly been our best/most consistent recruit for this year.
If you can't give the commitment you gave this year and you don't want to improve, you can go because we have unfinished business-Ross Lyon

One of those recycled player punts that has really come off. I'm a huge fan of King. He really knows how to use his size and physical presence at centre bounces and stoppages. So good to see a bid bastard in a Saints jumper exerting some physical authority on the contest. Really thrilled with his commitment, the fact that he played most of the year and the mature presence he brings on the field. Great pick-up.dcstkfc wrote:jeff white could testifyStSteven wrote:As a person he is a class act.

Does this mean J.L-H can get bumped off for official mascot?
kingy has been good for us, like The Saintsational Man said, its good to finally have a solid ruck.
hopefully he can get thru another two years injury free
Took me a while to be won over, but King has done well for us and he's had a solid year..
It is interesting to note however, that he has been seen to have a great year, where Kosi, our no.2 ruck, has better numbers at pretty much every level, yet half the forum is calling for his head...
Does it merely come down to difference in pay??... Some of the posters in this thread lauding king, are the same ones saying Kosi is useless... Go figure?!!....

King has much better numbers in the ruck, which is what he's there for.Sobraz wrote:Took me a while to be won over, but King has done well for us and he's had a solid year..
