List quality

Post: # 665669Post Nicky Winmore »

Hi

In the Age Article Butters is attributed with the following statement:-

"We've always had a position on recruiting that was very simple. Will the person you're about to recruit play in our next premiership side."

I'm interested in the forums thoughts on:-

1) Which players on our list would get a spot in the hawks 22 at the moment.

2) Which players have the potential to get a spot.

My thoughts are below but I don't have enough knowledge of the Hawthorn team to have a firm opinion on the matter let alone give consideration to the old chestnut "team balance".

1) Dal Santo / Young
Fisher /Gilham
Goddard /Ladson
Hayes /Interchange
Koschitzke /Interchange
Montagna / Interchange
Milne /Interchange
Roo / Roughead

2)X&R Clarke??

Hawthorn 2008 Grand Final Team
B: Stephen Gilham Trent Croad Brent Guerra
HB: Grant Birchall Luke Hodge Rick Ladson
C: Jordan Lewis Sam Mitchell (Captain) Clinton Young
HF: Michael Osborne Lance Franklin Cyril Rioli
F: Mark Williams Jarryd Roughead Campbell Brown
Foll: Robert Campbell Brad Sewell Chance Bateman
Int: Stuart Dew Xavier Ellis Brent Renouf
Shane Crawford
Coach: Alastair Clarkson

This exercise may show up just how far we have to go to get a premiership line up.

A very subjective exercise to be honest. You can replay the GF 5 times over 5 weeks and get different results.

The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.

Hudghton would easily make the side. A quality KP back is the difference between Hawthorn 08 and Hawthorn 08/09/?? if you know what I mean

What Age article?

Was it not a Herald Sun article?

well no wonder RB and GT got on differant sides of the fence
I thought their recruiting mantra was ' will they be there for 10 yrs or 100 games" :?:

a better way to ask the question is : Hypothetically speaking say St kilda were to fold and every single player on our list was up for grabs in a free for all style draft who would have intrst shown in them ?

imo
Straight up Roo Lenny Dal BJ Fisher would be the most sought after names with Joey Ball Shnider gram also would create a buzz

players like Kosi Milne gilbo armo might get a look in at a club looking to give a player go to prove themself

the rest would prob only get a passing interest

( the likes of baker King and Max although would be handy to a few teams wouldnt get a look in mostly due to their age)

I'm sure Gram would get a job selling fries at the Macca's drive through

How ridiculous! We finished our season only 7 days before Hawthorn did and we smashed them in the home & away season.

No one is that far away on their day. Hawthorn are further away from Geelong than we are from Hawthorn, yet look at the Grand Final, anything can happen...
