Hi Archie,
I apologise if this topic is not your area of expertise but I appreciate you taking the time to read it.
My question is regarding this jersey previously used by the Saints:
(In case the image does not show, I'm referring to what is commonly known as the "Candy Stripe" jumper.)
This jersey, although no longer used by the club or (seemingly) being produced in any form, is the favourite of many supporters. I know this will never be used as our club's clash jersey again, so that is not what I am asking about.
My query is this: due to the apparent popularity of the jersey, and the mythical status it has received in terms of actually finding one for sale, would the club ever consider manufacturing these again, perhaps focusing on a "classic jersey" angle?
I know personally I would love to buy one, and I am not alone in that sentiment. At the moment the club only manufactures and sells current, up-to-date jerseys and from what I can remember we've never had past or "classic" jerseys for sale. It would be a whole new angle in terms of merchandise.
I don't know the specifics, but there are probably things like manufacturing laws that I am not aware of, or copywright restrictions or something similar. Perhaps this might hold the club back from taking such an action.
As previously said, among fans it seems to have reached the status of "Good luck finding that for sale, if you do let me know because I want one also", or, "if you see one anywhere, buy it and sell it on eBay", etc. It would be f airly safe bet to say they would sell, and sell well, if available for sale.
Thanks for your time!
Regards,
Nick
