Best Saints Team this Century

Post: # 685614Post older saint »

Best Team from 2000 -

B: Maguire, Hudgton, A Jones
HB: Baker, S Fisher, Voss
C: Dal Santo, Hayes, Powell
HF: Hamill, Loewe, Riewoldt,
F: Milne, Gehrig, Ball
Foll: Everitt, Harvey , Burke
Int: Kosi, Thompson, Gram, Peckett,

Emerg: Montagna, Blake, Penny

Tough to remember all so I am sure left some out. Everitt tough one personally as no question in ability but selfish

No Hall? Kosi hasn't done anything so far. Agree with your backline.

Based on achievements of players with the Saints 2000-08
(not including someone like Barry Hall or Shane Wakelin, who obviously went on to bigger things at other clubs but only played briefly with us in that period - Spider still makes the cut though, due to a dearth of decent ruckmen)

B: S. Baker, M. Hudghton, B. Voss
HB: J. Gram, S. Fisher, A. Jones
C: J. Peckett, R. Harvey, A. Thompson
HF: A. Hamill, N. Riewoldt, S. Loewe
F: S. Milne, F. Gehrig, L. Ball
Foll: P. Everitt, L. Hayes, N. Burke
I/C: S. Powell, J. Blake, N. Dal Santo, J. Koschitzke

Em: B. Goddard, L. Montagna

Hall played 36 games for 81 goals with the Saints this century ... that's the basis I'm using ...

I would have thought that if we look at this thru gametime and performance, then I reckon BJ would have to be 1st 18. I honestly do not believe that Kosi has done enough, and has missed too long thru injury. I also reckon Ball hasn't done enough.

Now I luv them both, but if you must have your best team based on performance, then both would miss IMO. Ball would be an emergency, and Kosi wouldn't make the cut.

Otherwise, I reckon you're on the money.

Yeah, but the same logic would mean guys like Burke and Stewie wouldn't make it becaus ethey retired oh so long ago.

Same with Penny. Played good footy but only for a few years.

Still don't see how Kosi is one of the best since 2000.

The Saints haven't achieved anything in the years 2000 to 2008 so collectively they "all" haven't done enough.......

Don't put them on a farken pedestal until some Saints combination is good enough to win a flag.............

WTF?? Who's putting them on a pedestal? Chill out dude. We're discussing the best combo we would have had.

I thought that would have been obvious. Oh, and    to you too!

Had him in there on the half-back flank chook ...

WJ42 ... Luke Ball is All-Australian, B&F winner, 100-game player for the Saints.

By contrast someone like Matty Maguire has been solid but only put together a couple of decent years of footy (04-05). Hasn't done much else due to injury obviously.

Agree with you WJ42, Goddard is a far better player than Kosi IMO ... but for the balance of the team, I thought we needed Kosi to share some ruckwork/KP duties ...

I'll concede on Ball... Stewie could go 2nd ruck ahead of Kosi IMO.
