BEGLEY/DAWSON > COUSINS/CARROLL
We were going to take Cousins, Carroll instead took Begley and Dawson.
I am for one happy. Dawson could be anything, OH NO he was beaten by Rocca in his prime when Dawson was 3kg and only 18 years old!!!
Obviously Cousins > Begley but Begley a clean unit only 23 could be anything.
We did the right thing. 2 players that wont dishonor the club and could be there for 10 years. Why take the risk with trouble makers?? we arent fremantle or richmond we have a great future with the current crop so great choices IMO.
Well done.

Well comparing Cousins to those 2 is like comparing John McEnroe to Todd Woodbridge or Todd Reid. One will get the job done but cause a bit of pain doing it. The others are honest but never quite get over the line.CaptainReiwoldt wrote:I mean drafting 2 young guys one of which is semi proven and I have hope both will come on, both have had experience somewhat.
Instead of risking the whole club on a 30 year old and a 28 year old hack.
just saying we made a proffessional decision, rather than 'cousins' fever.

and neither will help boost our membership numbers.
The Cousins hype would have (but at a "minder cost" to offset the revenue to some extent also!).

How about when Cousins is found by the cops one morning after a drink/drug binge during the season???
what then??
You know how much *&^% the club would be in then???
really worth it??? We have something great happening why take that risk???
Begley looks real fit and if he holds up a defensive post thats gram or goddard into the midfield.

good luck to Zac hope he does alright for you guys [ except against the hawks sorry ]
he was a hawk supporter before becoming a player for them a new home may help he cement a spot cause near the end he came close at times [ was an emergency ] but it was hard for any of the ones not in the senior list to get in so he never got to prove the critics wrong .hopefully can now .
i am happy he got a second chance at it .

I guess that delisted players never go on to make anything of their second chances. Guerra is a premiership player now isn't he? Or did I miss something....?plugger66 wrote:Lets See. One has won a brownlow and 3 got delisted from their clubs. We have now 2 of the delisted players.
Plenty of examples of delisted players working out well.

This poster can't even spell the name of our club captain, so I'm going to treat his opinion with the depth it deserves.
We should have taken Cousins. I wouldn't have minded Carroll if the players were ok with it.
Begley's not a bad pick I guess, and neither is Dawson, but the latter was a rookie (who we should have taken later).
And who's more likely to be on a list two years' from now? Cousins or Begley?

Probably Begley in 2 years from now because Cousins plays for Richmond.evertonfc wrote:This poster can't even spell the name of our club captain, so I'm going to treat his opinion with the depth it deserves.

Time to move on people.
Oh yeah, P66...
Perhaps we should have taken Woewodin? He was a former Brownlow medalist...
The lid is off after Round 2! Enjoy the journey, coz you just don't know where we'll end up. Live for today and seize the moment.
Didnt know he nominated but probably would have been as useful as Dawson. By the way I have said all along we probably shouldnt have picked up Cousins but when someone says Dawson and Begley are better for the club well I think that may deserve a response. Anyway hopefully Brad Hardie will be available next year.WayneJudson42 wrote:Probably Begley in 2 years from now because Cousins plays for Richmond.evertonfc wrote:This poster can't even spell the name of our club captain, so I'm going to treat his opinion with the depth it deserves.

OMG I got it wrong then.evertonfc wrote:We should have taken Cousins.
Sorry oh great and powerful Oz....
FFS we should never have taken him and DIDN'T.
Reckon there may have been a greater reason for not taking him than there was in favour of "Everton said so - therefore we shall."
Get the F*** over it..... and get on with supporting who we HAVE...
Can't believe tossers are still sooking over the non BC issue. A player who was never a Saint, and never should have been.
Go get a Tigers membership FFS.

BC should have been taken, but wasn't and it may prove to be a mistake on different levels.
already OFF field it has shown to be a mistake, and lets see what happens on field.
If we win the flag this year then i guess the board were right, and i, along with the silent majority were wrong...
I guess we'll see...
It's not a crime Ev, but this was last years news...evertonfc wrote:Since when is it a crime to have a valid opinion?Iceman234 wrote:OMG I got it wrong then.evertonfc wrote:We should have taken Cousins.

So maybe move your whingy whiny opinion of him to the opposition thread and enjoy your gratification of BC there - he's not a Saint, never was, never will be, I think most have moved on...
Immature...pffft...
Yeah I'm the one hero-worshipping a messiah that never was...
