ocean water swim.
Each year 4300 people dive into a sea of history and swim the 1.2 kilometre course of the Lorne Pier to Pub. Over the past 20 years the event has grown in size and statue and now claims centre stage of a three day program that includes the Mountain to Surf Fun Run and the Surf Boat Race Classic.

Busso Mick and I usually swim around the Busselton Jetty Pier will that count? The pub is a welcoming waterhole at the finish of that epic struggle...... I might be slow in the swim, but I'm quick to get to the bar :P

I always used to do the Lorne Pier to Pub when I lived in Melbourne. One year I did it Gary Ablett Snr was competing. Lots of Cats players used to enter....I can remember seeing Nankervis, Bews, Couch at different P to P swims.

So Leigh Fisher, fish by name, fish by nature eh?

Go Dorothy Dickey from Doncaster Dolphins the oldest female competitor (78 years)....I've swam with Dorothy in Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, London and all over pools and oceans around Aus. Lovely lady I hope when I get to her age I'm still floating and beating sharks home......... especially those in budgie smugglers

Well maybe you'll be closer to enter the Portsea Classic.....that is a great swim....bigger waves for you to add to the excitement. Just mention you are a Saints supporter and Lindsay Fox might offer you some accommodation at his little shack...or the use of his change rooms to get the sand out of your budgie smugglers

the problem they have at lorne is the price of the Beer once they get to the pub- the now add a " COVER CHARGE" because they added some music???????

and then had a ***** charge to each beer-

haven't heard what happened this year But I guess if your going to keep 4,000 out of your pub that's a good start.

have the entrants found a 'new' pub to use yet.

Very good point Batnoe or at the very least the Commonwealth Games...

I just wonder how his times compare to the triathletes, I am guessing that the bike rides was just a rehab and the times would not be that flash

Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

I'll be doing this next year.
It's not as far as I thought so hopefully I'll be good enough to make it by then.

I went for a swim in September and struggled to do a lap lol. Improved a fair bit since then though

Funny thing is Harley isn't even what you'd consider big for an AFL footballer

Ive walked from the Pier to the Pub..down the road which is actually further than 1.2k's..does that count?? 8-)

That bloody Lorne pub is the most overrated watering hole. Pub meals with restuarant prices...aimed at the yuppies 365 days a year. Does not surprise me that they slap on a "cover charge" on days like this

If I organised the race, it would be the "Pub to Pier"..theres a perfectly good cafe on the pier..and a fishmongers to beet to grab a feed of fish for dinner :-)
