training today
I did go to training this morning! It went for about 2.5 hours and was v impressive. Most of the players there but I didn't see Lenny, Max or Ross aka choo choo. Roo was there but spent most of time with Ross watching.
Some of the highlights: Luke Ball - made me want to put money on him for the brownlow - reflexes spot on in the handball and kicking drills. Frankly the whole mid field looked good (except for Lenny's absence) - dal, armitage, montagna and Jack Stevens. Good to see Eljay out there and the way he takes off with the ball. And jimmy g looking at home in front of goals - holds onto the mark and kicks the ball miles with ease. Gilbo strong and confident too. And Milney getting better with age.
Having trouble recognising some of the new guys but Blake McGrath stands out (of course) and seems to enjoy himself.
They did a 'clearance and move the ball into forward line drill' right in front of me - lead by Ross. Great to see him interact with players and they seem to want to perform for him and also make comments - especially ball, dal and BJ.
Overall impressed by the amount of running and the intensity of the drills etc. Recommend everyone comes Friday and see if it comes together in a game.

Sorry about the delay in follow up. I'm glad if Lenny was there - just didn't pick him although I was looking hard. I don't know whether it is good or bad but some of the boys are starting to look v similar. Less use of the hair dye me thinks!
Re forward movement - there were a lot of players in front of goal and the aim was to get the ball in fast and direct. Some of Ross's loudest yells were to BJ to run in a straight line (coming forward), that they missed two targets, to CJ to be more direct and ' didn't he see to Zac who was free and inside' and to keep going and 'mop up' once the ball came to ground as the players seemed to think the drill was over once the attacking players lost possession. After this Armo kicked a beautiful goal on the run, evading traffic - cool. And jimmy took a few nice marks ( a fav of mine). Come to think of it Ross may have been telling them who to aim for...Raph was defending for sure, but couldn't pick many of the others sorry.... Leigh F (chips?) was in the clearance group rather than in the back. Can't wait for this arvo's game!
