One of the best things about being a footy fan is watching new talent emerge....or at least watching possible new talent.
It is part of my 'passion' of being a Saints fan.
So for me...one of the exciting things about 2009 is that I have a swag of new "unknown" players to watch ...not to mention a few "known" players trying to resurrect their careers commenced elsewhere.
Unfortunately once they canned the reserves it has become a lot harder to do.
However in 2009 the Saints have the biggest list in the competition......just a shame that our possible Rookie Irish prospect's team made the final over in Ireland and so he arrived to late to be assessed.
Still there is a lot to see....including a few players that have that edge of excitement about them. So 2009 will be a "bumper" year for new talent watching.
Choo Choo the speed machine!!!
Heyne the HF
Cahill the marking machine
Stanley the athletic ruckman
McGrath the beanpole ruckman who is evidently an athletic freak as well (but can he play???)
Gaernter who could be 'superman' or a dud.
Miles we got last year....but did not really see due to injury....so an "extra" for my watching.
Add in the recycled Ray, Begley and Zac.....and without even a ball kicked in anger yet there is a lot to be interested about for season 200 fora Saint's fan.
The NAB will hold extra interest as no doubt we will see many of these new players in action for the first time.

I'm liking the look of Stanley very much also.
Usually I read a lot of reviews of the kids on here and they're talked up,then when I watch them they don't excite me one bit. However Stanley, who hasn't come with big wraps, looks like he could be something in 2-3 years.
You get the impression Lynch is going to be a leader of the club also down the track.

Stanley has big wraps from me. This kid is going to be a champion. Best ruck prospect we have had since Spider. He and McEvoy will be our rucks by 2011.
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

Yes..I find myself really watching him...often to the exclusion of the game.
Watching raw talent come on is a pleasure.
