Give the Goose a Go

Post: # 746857Post Sainterone »

I'd like to see Goose get a run soon.

We all know he's been stuck on 99 games for an eternity.
I wouldn't give him a run just to get his century up, but..

...from all accounts he's been playing pretty well at VFL level kicking plenty of goals and regularly being named in the best.

He may not be a shadow of what he was but I'd like to see him get a few AFL games to test him at the elite level and determine whether he can bring something to the team.

Prior to his injuries he was (bordering?) on elite player level and a fit and firing goose has got to be a big bonus for the side.

Someone will want to know who I would drop - the three that played poorly last week were Bakes, Raph and Gwilt (in that order IMO) - I'm sure the coaching team could shuffle the team to Give the Goose a Go if they think it's the right move.

Listening to RL's comments, where he said something like Goose was in solid form in the VFL etc, sounds like he is not exactly in line for a recall unless Roo and Kozi go down with injury.

round 14 and on tom hawkins.
he should be employed specifically to rough-up hawkins.

says to geelong that we are intending on playing you in the grand final without showing them the ace card. puts the cats in two minds and gives him his 100th.

Carlton have been in touch with his manager and are very keen.

If he doesn't get a slot in the team soon we will lose him.

why rough up hawkins??? just beat him

on lesser opponents hawkins has done ok however hawkins doesnt come across as too quick and neither is goose

who knows how strong goose's legs and hips are to be able to stand his ground whilst wrestling under a high ball though from a defensive position

gee he would be a perfect fit for Carlton at moment, especially with their most recent injury!
I know it may be seen as heresy around here, but if we could get a draft pick for Goose, maybe 3rd round, it would be win / win for player and club, and I would wish him well.

saints have fulfilled his contract. He was injured playing for the saints. Goose owes us nothing, especially if he is not a regular senior player.

All we are saying is Give Goose a chance!

3rd round = Loss / Win

2nd round = Win / Win

1st round = Win / Loss

I understand there will be list changes next year and atm I'm stuggling to find the 5 or 6 that we will cut in order to 'regenerate'. I would like to see Goose play half a dozen games to see where he's at. He's a very strong boy who if he picks up the pace of the AFL and understands and plays to Lyon's structures and game plan then he's a very valuable asset.

They're saying if it's not broke, don't fix it, and some rubbish about only if they're banging down the door. Maguire IS banging down the door. And Maguire as the third tall will give sides with even the best backlines complete headaches.

Give him a go. He's got a lot to contribute. We'll easily forget what a gun he was, won't we?

Saints may well only make 3 picks in the '09 draft. Upgrading our last pick by 4-8 spots isn't even close to win/win.

Plenty of teams short on KPP, not just the Blues (though they do make sense). If he can't crack back into the lineup here, better than a 3rd ought be available.
