We are in a form slump, but we're still winning.
Be happy with that. We'll be regrouping next week - a few players are likely to get the axe - and should be back to our best soon.

Main point - even the best teams have ups and downs. Be glad our downs still involve us winning.
And 5 consecutive 6 day breaks is very average from the AFL. After the split round we'll be as fresh as a new batch of pancakes. Even if we lose the three games before that, 9-3 will still have us deeply entrenched in the top 2, and there's no real difference between 1st and 2nd.
It's all good. Seriously.

What exactly is our "best"?clarky449 wrote:So do you think we have been playing our best the past 3 weeks?
Comparisons to earlier rounds? what if w were playing above ourselves?
What if the opposition has sussed us out a bit more?
10-0
In 6 of those we smashed teams, the rest we won comfortably.
Form slump??

Hmmmmmm...
Dees played 2 extra men back. Were held goaless in the 2nd half. We didn't punsih them on the scorebloard.
Yep, we're stuffed.
But wait a minute... I see now... because they are 16th, we should have won by 20 goals. Silly me.

you wish ,and it's starting to sound like a broken record James !James wrote:Be happy with that. We'll be regrouping next week - a few players are likely to get the axe - and should be back to our best soon.
Only thing is we keep on winning , and thank heavens the selectors don't listen to you and the minority of similar half-wits who have been harping for team changes endlessly!
3 or 4 players in there tonight with little or no experience/or long time out of AFL form may have been all that was required for the Dees to get over the line ...(though I doubt it) anyway if you had your way we would have found out one way or another!
and should be back to our best soon
we are now, 10/10 which has to be equal to anything youve lived long enough to witness
and just a little tip mate , sit back and enjoy it! and put some faith in those selectors who fortunately seem to know a bit more about the game than you
I disagree with the notion that we are in a slump but can you please explain to me how you can play above your best? It seems counter-intuitive to me.Milton66 wrote:What exactly is our "best"?clarky449 wrote:So do you think we have been playing our best the past 3 weeks?

Sorry, what I meant to say is that we played at a 100% very best level. So we are now... what... 80?
Let's be "out there" and say we're at 70% of that level. Hardly a frickin form slump.
Melbourne, Rochmond and a few others are in a form slump.
Capeesh?

Our skills are not as silky as they were earlier in the season.
But we still have "it".
I thought the pressure we applied in the second and third quarters was outstanding.
All credit to Melbourne for not crumbling.
Winning "ugly" is one trait of all the great sides in history.
Being able to find something extra when required is another.
All in all I am pretty darn happy with how we are travelling.
10-0 and plenty of improvement opportunities.

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
