haha I'd just wait for you to lose interest... there is no value in a .net.au unless you have added it.
just like there'd be no value in Saintsational.com or contestedfooty.com or footytragic unless their respective owners and the communities attached added the value. this isn't the .com boom any more.

Depends. Domains can be purchased and held, provided they don't infringe on a copyright and they're used.vacuous space wrote:AFAICT it's also illegal.walski wrote:Domain parking = epic fail in my books................
St Kilda wouldn't be able to prevent anyone else registering.
However, if the domain is simply held and not used and St Kilda decided they wanted it, it could be recovered from the holder with re-imbursement of only the initial registration fee (and it might not be that much, I can't remember).
Legislation prevents domain squatting (as opposed to speculation) in most of the western world these days.
If our good friend aaronplus wishes to maintain his hold, he'll need to get something up there pretty quickly... but at the end of the day, I agree with jamesrose, a .net.au is used for parking, not generating interest.
I'd be surprised if it ended up being worth much rather than just expiring. IIRC Microsoft happily waited for someone to get off windows.com.au to prevent a drawn out legal battle, so I can't imagine saints.net.au is going to make a huge splash.
Unless God decided to get into domain registration....

Holding domains is one thing... holding aviators another - how do you get away with it Cowboy?!cowboy18 wrote:I'll match that and throw inBeekay wrote:I'll give you saint dooley and a 10th round draft pick.
a) instructions on how to get an aviator under your name on the left and
b) a compilation "best of cowboy18", featuring posts from the general and opposition forums. Limited time only.

Isn't that exactly what this is? He's trading on the Saints name. He's not using the domain for anything. He's posting here trying to create some sort of interest.BAM! (shhhh) wrote:Domains can be purchased and held, provided they don't infringe on a copyright and they're used.
My understanding is that the courts have sided with fan sites that use copyrighted names, but have generally ruled against those who have been deemed to infringe - and not always with compensation.
In any case, legal or not, it does seem like a poor way to spend $7.50 US. But the proof will be in the Ebay pudding I guess.
