Brownlow odds Saints Players

Post: # 758920Post emmdee »

we currently have 5 players in the top 12 brownlow favourites with bookmaker Sportsbet. how many forumites can place them in the correct order ie 1-5 shortest odds first. i was a little surprised how the bookies have them....

Joey
Dal
Hayes
Roo
Goddard

Joey is ranked 2nd behind Ablett (or possibly first) in the champion data stat to brownlow vote conversion tally.

Lenny would have as many as Joey imo.

I would have
Lenny and Joey (equal or close too)
Roo
Dal
BJ

Out of 12 games (72 votes) we would have 68 of them, can't remember anyone really staring against us. So Joey or Lenny could have between 13 and 17 already. Lenny was in the coaches votes 5 weeks in a row and maybe also this week.

I have a strange feeling that umpires have finally taken the whole "Midfielders' Medal" on board and will give forwards a lot more recognition this year.

Steve Johnson and Roo will poll highly IMO.

Why? SJ may win it because he plays in the midfield as well but dont waste your money on Rooy. Our leading vote getters at the moment would be Dal or Lenny followed by Joey and then Rooy or BJ.

I think the perception that midfielders can only win the medal has finally struck a chord with them. Rule interpretations can change from week to week and I don't think this is any different. They're an impressionable bunch, those white maggots.

Roo's in career-best form and he's hard to miss with that blonde hair.

Even if Steve Johnson wins it that would be considered a break in the trend. He gets a run through midfield and therefore can gather midfield-like stats but still spends most of his time in the forward 50.

Who was the last midfielder/forward to win a medal?

How has Lenny polled in the past?

i'd say dal, since he is the flashy ball-player type that umpires traditionally love.

But why do you say that. Have you spoken to the umpires? Lenny polled very well last year considering the year he had.

I said, "I have a strange feeling". I don't think I have to qualify my feelings.

No, I have not spoken to the umpires. It's a hunch, a guess, a vague awareness. I think the penny has finally dropped and umpires have realised that footballers in other positions can be just as influential as midfielders.

It's going to happen eventually, this may be the year.

Last year Frankling came close to winning it and Pavlich polled very well.

Also, you would think that with three umpires it would be easier for them to recognise a great performance from a forward.
