I might watch 'til 1/2 time... just to watch Banger, Burkie, and Stewie on the paddock together......and Aussie's run down the wing.

Get rid of this thread unless you are an Adelaide supporter.

Exactly. And Barry Hall's dominant first half...

I have only watched half of the replay - to half time. We should have been four goals up. Ran out of gas (which in all the circumstances was quite understandable) and into Jarman. I think the Crows kicked 14 goals one behind in the last half, and I think the point was kicked soon after half time. Perhaps someone who goes through the pain can provide the actual number they kicked straight.

Aussie's goal was just on, and now there's a break.

It's great to watch Nicky again... and Crippa, Thommo with a mop, Jayson Daniels......it's back on..bye.

I keep returning to this thread with morbid fascination. It's like a recurring nightmare. Someone's gotta stop it for god's sake. That sad, deathly silent sea of red white and black that rode the train south through the showers; the blind drunken stupors; the Sunday papers; the horror.

that game just rams home that niggling doubt in the back of my mind.
The '97 Saints were awesome, we smacked most sides that year.
Got into the finals the easy way, and yes we lost Everitt, but Cook came into replace him.
The crows made it to the GF the hard way, and they were without Modra and that Jarmin guy was making up the numbers on reputation alone.
The last quarter was always going to be about determination, and we lost the battle above the neck...
Ended the StKilda careers of the Wakelins and Shanahan.
But good to see Jason Heatley again, he was one of THE most accurate goal scorers ever to pull on a Saints jumper.

Wasn't going to tell my horror story but I need to purge my tortured soul about that dark days events.

For a start I had the mother of all hangovers after a dining in night at the portsea army base[my wife worked there ] where the plonk was free which for me only ends one way...

Remember catching the bus home with everyone singing..

OH WHEN THE SAINTS....OVER AND OVER......

Watched the first half and for about 10 minutes into the third quarter when the sheer enormity of what was unfolding overcame me emotionally and I went for a walk from my Rye property down melbourne road ...Prefering to hear later that we had just won the bloody thing and having the ultimate hair of the dog session :P

...was watching the clock and knew the game must have been nearing the end and I swear that I walked past Jarman street which runs off Melbourne road in Blairgowrie and it was like this sudden feeling of impending doom overcame me

Cars were going past and people looked disappointed...WORSE THAN DISAPPOINTED...SHATTERED ....STUNNED:shock:

...there was just no buzz or excitement like there would have been if the Saints had won there second flag...

No car horns or distant shouts and cheers from houses nearby

I had parked my car a few hundred metres from home and with trembling hands and my heart literally in my mouth I flicked on 3AW and just heard the crows song blaring out...

To this day I have never felt such horror and despair without someone dying

Couldn't believe it when I heard Jarmans role in the road accident that was 97

Got home ..couldn't speak to my wife and daughters and just lay on the couch completely numb  ...the phone rang and my wife said it was a mate who barracked for the scum who was laughing when he asked to speak to ME...THE LOSER!!!!!!

Didn't go to the phone and still haven't forgiven him to this day for his insensitivity :x

Bitter and twisted ... mentally scarred ...who me :? ...on a knife edge already about the finals in 09??...

In a word...YES

Am I watching the replay on fox ?

In a word....NEVER

Was up at 2am this morning and I couldn't help myself so I began watching with the intention of watching the game in its entirety. I even IQ'd it seeing as it was late and I may have fallen asleep.

Like most, I hadn't seen a full replay of the game...and I still haven't.

Noticed my heart beating incredibly fast when the game began. Perhaps because it seemed as though I was watching it for the first time, or maybe it was because I just knew what was about to unfold.

I have no recollection of any of it besides Aussie's goal, which I have seen since, and Jarman wheeling away with a smile on his face, posturing to the Crow supporters as he kicked one of his.

We started nervously yet managed to kick the first couple but as soon as Adelaide hit the front with a couple of their own I stopped it right there and deleted the recording. That was all I could handle. I was fast asleep by 230.

Really bad idea.
