Geez I am wrapt with that.. Barnsey & the Saints on one day.. 2 of my fav things. Wonder which song he will sing? I reckon No Second Prize suits it the most.

Now if we can orgainise the Russian bikini model team there will be 3 of my fav things... :D

hes fleecing the music scene for everything he can get and so is his talentless son all these turkeys ever do is covers they wont take the punt on doing something original . Shame on the australian music scene it was once a thriving pool of talent (esp the underground scene of the 80s 90s and 2000s) but they were ignored ,havent we had enough of jimmy and davids year after year flogging of covers . thank god the band X are back together playing

Not the most stupid thing you've posted here. Whether you or I like Barnesy, and I'm not a fan, my experience would tell me that anyone who survives the music biz in this country for as long as he has, has earned every dollar.

It could be worse. I don't have a problem with Jimmy Barnes but quite honestly he is leading a pretty average lineup.

I understand people saying it is the Australian Grand Final, it should be Australian acts... but the truth is we have very few out-and-out legends and very few international draw cards.

It's a shame the Grand Final isn't seen as a prestigious event that bands worldwide are falling head over heel to get into. There would be nothing better than getting some high quality American acts into the mix. Saturday Night Live can do it every week, why can't the AFL get their act together once a year?

Barnsey is a legend. Don't care about the pre game stuff. Only want Saints win!

One can only assume Paul Kelly says "thanks but no thanks" every year...which is his right

Surely even the AFL arent stupid enough to realise that Leaps and Bounds is the perfect pregame song for a GF??

Gotta have the token Stage Musical cast for the theatregoers

Happy to have Holy Grail though, and verrrry happy to have no Up There bloody Cazaly!

He can still rock it. Saw him earlier in the year with a couple of thousand others at Villa Maria Estate- Auckland...everyone seemed to enjoying themselves.
Prefer him getting the gig to some prissy doll, limp dick or wannabe.
Thousands lucky enough to be there will be wrapped to hear him belt out "No Second Prize" and "Working Class Man"

If we win I'll quickly forget the screeching parrot. If we lose then Barnsey
will make the whole experience extra painfull.

Is this the best Australia can produce music wise ?

Could be slightly worse... Brian Johnson from AC/DC.

Angry Anderson...

Powderfinger wouldve been ok.

Paul Kelly good

Barnes screeching "river deep mountain high?" like a cockatoo whose heads been stomped on?......priceless....

As long as Greg Champion doesnt punce round doing the "Dipper" Im happy I guess but no doubt there will be some guy on a didgeridoo in a nappy, 40,000 school kids singing "we are family" and some sheila murdering Advanced Australia's Hairs.

Heck I like rugby's idea of bringing out the Hoodoo Guru's better than half that clapped out cr@p.....why does the AFL Grand Final ALWAYS feel like a bad cabaret gig???...it lacks an edge.

Why not dangle Nicky whats her name from a cable atop the G and she can pretend shes a starfish or something? ...better still....roll out the Hills Hoist clothes lines......or giant thongs,.......arrgghhhhh just start the game FFS.

I can't remember how the pre-game has looked in previous years, but it should be something like this (probably condensed a hell of a lot more):

0 - 60 min: Waltzing Matilda, Up There Cazaly and the other songs they always play
0 - 45 min: Token B-grade Australian act - take your pick.
0 - 30 min: Indigenous act (do they normally have one?)

- 10 minute break for the TV station to go through match ups, etc -

0 - 20 min: First class American act to bring the house down

- Players run on to the ground -

0 - 2 min: National Anthem

- Footy -

Why would we want an American act to bring the house down. Not sure how many GF you have been to but we certainly dont need people like that. Unlike some other games like the NRL and American Football our game is good enough to stand on its own. We get a little entertainment which is enough. The crowd is fired up enough, we dont need American acts to make it better.
