Whipping boys

Post: # 819061Post Fidelis »

Fromer Saints whipping boy Justin Plapp made the news in Tassie over the weekend.

http://www.examiner.com.au/news/local/s ... 21944.aspx

The current captain-coach of Burnie had an after the siren set shot to put his team through to the Grand Final of the State League at Aurora Stadium on Saturday ..... and missed.

Took me back to when he was my whipping boy not so long back. Too many backline fumbles and turnovers for my liking.

Now some former whipping boys win us over in time (Raph, Jones, Blake and even BJ from the current team gave us heartburn earlier in their careers) but some retire with the tag.

Who else do we remember as whipping boys of the past?

I seriously hope we don't get ourselves in that position in a GF. My nerves couldn't take it.

Damian Kitschke - ran down in the goalsquare by David Grenvold at Windy Hill in 1990 when we were THAT close to pulling off a shock win.

Whipped after that!

Newport always copped it but a really good tagger.
