Seagull Problem At The G

Post: # 824573Post marksnsparks »

Sitting at ground level last night, I now have a new appreciation of how hard it must be for players to spot their teammates downfield with all those frigging birds in the way!!

At times it must be like playing in a snowstorm. Another thing we have had to adjust to playing at the MCG.

Surely there is something the MCC can do about this, short of putting a net up over the ground.

Time to put roof on the G perhaps?

Didnt they used to bring a hawk in to chase them away, no I dont mean Buddy Franklin of Jarrod Roughead, although Roughead would scare the paint off a wall

Well that explains it, no Hawks have been anywhere near the G during the finals

Hawk v Seagull
Seagull wins

Problem is that the lights attract moths, which in turn attracts the Seagulls, plus all the discarded food after the game is over.

When I first started following the Saints they were known as the Seagulls. Maybe that explains the attraction of the seagulls to the ground.

Blimey, how long ago was that?

Never knew we had that nickname before...

I thought the seagulls were ridiculous! They were bloody everywhere! I reckon they outnumbered the crowd 3 to 1!!

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

For the sake of all you young takkers, it was in the late 40's early 50's. Our powerful theme song was "Who loves to live beside the seaside, who loves to live beside the sea" Gee we put fear into the heart of our opposition. I worked with a Bruce McLennan, who was a back pocket player who moved from Collingwood to St.Kilda. He told me that the only other Saint who trained in short sleeves was Keith Drinan. That says something for the morale of the club.

The problem is the food scraps - that is why they come.
They are scavengers.

Solution ?
Maybe an air rifle during the week ?

Demetriou must act and act now over the Western Bulldogs use of additional players.

The Williamstown Seagulls are aligned with the Western Bulldogs.
Those Seagulls were actually extra Western Bulldogs players who normally play with Wiiliamstown.

The Western Bulldogs knew that their only hope of competing with St Kilda was to have extra players on the field and they nearly succeeded.

If Demetriou does not take action against the Western Bulldogs use of Seagulls, my theory that AFL is an abbreviation for corruption will be proved conclusively.

Can you imagine what would happen if a goal was missed due to the ball hitting a seagull!!!!!

The MCC is more concerned about a magpie problem tonight.

I've heard the same story about the hawk being used.

I will happily volunteer my services next week to run around the boundary waving my arms to scare away the birds.
Purely from the goodness of my heart as a community service, of course.

Collo has no problem at Docklands.

When the joint's closed, he shuts the roof and shoots them. Their mates don't come back.

AFL need to contract a dozen temporary KFC outlets around the outside of the ground and have people deliberately dropping food.

As I know i love this crap the Seagulls love it just as much :P

Seagulls don't roost. They are not pigeons.

They come for the rubbish you Hawks supporters leave behind.
