Decoy

Post: # 826391Post PJ »

Thinking about how there has been so much press on Roo's knee. Just wondering if we or rather Ross and gang have thought how to use this to advantage.

If Riewoldt acts as a decoy surely he'd pull at least to key defenders in his wake out of the hot spot up forward opening up possibilities for our other defenders to capitalise

Riewoldt has just destroyed two other finals opponents. Why would you not want him in the heart of things???

PS: We should not use Lenny as a decoy either.

Reiwoldt as a decoy?

he has two settings, flat out and off.

whether we are 100 points in front, 100 points behind or hte game is dead or in the balance, he puts his body on the line.

go back and watch our two losses this year, he throws himself at every contest and runs like the wind even when a few of his team mates are saving themselves.

he epitomises the best of nathan burke, and robert harvey.

EVEN when he is beaten, he is leading 100 m to make a contest, chase, tackle, link, etc.

Very few opposition fans don't wish their whole team had the endouvour and work ethic or reiwoldt?

decoy? he's a decoy like a frikken battering ram at the gates of the enemy, head and heart first!

i think using him as a decoy early could work.... just while nerves are high etc...

they see us going forward and have him deep on a lead they'll ignore the lead 15m away could get us 3-4 quick goals on board before they settle down in which then we work to free up roo and kosi

i didnt say about taking him out of the forward line... the idea is to make out we are going straight to him if hes deep in goal kick it well infront of him say at the 40m mark to some one leading from the side after making intention we're going too roo (when hes deep surrounded we seem to kick it to him even when he doesnt get it in generally right around him) and just opening up the other forwards early.. geelong will like i said switch on fast they arent a dud team... but a couple of quick goals and its done whats required

throw a sam fisher or the likes in hff get the benefit of a defender a strong mark and a long kick

its simular tactics geelong used to get in the game against us earlier aswell.. they almost stole it after our start with the tatics... throw most in deep and open up the 40-60m mark

Exactly.... who said about a permanent move, just to grab a quick goal or two...c'mon think laterally

Exactly.

Our ability to keep teams to low scores has remained all constant season but our scoring has dropped away in the latter part of the season.

We just need a more even contribution.
