Draft Camp Testing TODAY

Post: # 837571Post #1GILL »

Today is the day of all the physical tests at the Draft Camp.

These tests include:

Standing Vertical Jump
20-Metre Sprint
Agility
Shuttle run / beep test
3km Time Trial

It's always interesting to see which players dominate these tests. Tom Lynch Finished equal 6th in the beep test last year

As they put the results up i will post them in here.

Bit harsh getting them to do a beep test and 3km run on the same day and that's after the agility test (which normally requires two or three runs) as well as the 20m sprint which I believe doubles as a repeated sprints test.

You sure all that is done today?

The first 3 tests use a different system of the body, in comparison to the beep test and 3km run. They will have close to little bearing on the beep test.

Although if they were doing the beep test and then 3km as reported, that maybe influence 3km scores. Though I'm sure there is an efficient amount of rest inbetween the two tests.

Great initiative also with the alcohol testing. About time I say.

They take the draft candidates into the local pub, pour them pint and pint and record how they react.

Scully, after his second pint, jumped onto the bar and began instigating arguments with fellow potential draftees apparently telling Joe Morabito he'd never won a hardball in his life and that he should "st1ck to the roundball game you flash European pansy"

Carlton were most impressed.

Sorry to be a wet rag but we have pick 16,
and only 8 months of these kids are available for the national draft,
4 months are the exclusive reserve of the Gold Coast Bikinis.

That means our first pick is the equivalent of pick 24 in a normal year. - a mid 2nd round pick.

We don't get a look-in at the stand out performers,
we only get to choose between those that don't stand out.
If you are hoping we will draft your favourite player, then hope he flops at this camp.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Yes - got a feeling we will be looking outside the camp - maybe a young player playing in the WAFL or SANFL 1st or 2nd year - a young kid playing amongst men I think.

If everyone speeds, why haven't you been overtaken?

Which bottom agers would have been first rounders this year had they not changed the draft age? David Swallow would have been #1 or #2. Jack Darling and Josh Toy would probably have been top-10. I'm not sure about any others.

The talent gap between last year and this year was big before they took out the bottom agers. Last year was loaded with talls, this year has virtually none. There's Butcher, Panos and Talia. Butcher has question marks that probably would have seen him slip last year. This year he's all but guaranteed a top-5 selection.

There's a bit of a dropoff around about pick 12 or 13. Last year there was probably a similar dropoff around pick 30. I think we should still be able to find a good player at 16, but 32 and 48 will be much tougher. We'll probably have to get creative at some point.

well it will be worse in next year and the year after with GC coming in and then western sydney., if you try for picks rather than players. it will be speculative lot.

Pick 16 but equivalent to 24 - The fish that John West rejected.
Pick 32 but equivalent to 48 - The fish that John West refused to classify.
Pick 48 but equivalent to 72 - The fish that John West did not even look at.
Pck 64 but equivalent to 96 - The fish that Rex Hunt kissed.
