Brisbane running with myth and innuendo rather than keeping mouth closed--

Pretty sure this rumour is true. I was told it was unlikely he would be at the club next year. You would think X has a better chance of playing at the Lions than he does at the saints.

He played his best footy as a running half back and you would think he would be a chance to play there at the lions.

Guess we will just have to wait & see if I am talking garbage.

Would be dissapointed to lose X, especially if the rumoured 4th Round pick is all we get. I know hes injury-prone but hell...Im sure Ray and Fiora (also both first round picks) set us back more than a 4th rounder and they had just as many question marks over them

Club went out of their way to declare their support and backing for him when he did his knee, but now hes being shopped around?

Not keen on offloading him for a 4th rounder. If he was involved in a deal to get a ready player then you'd have to look at it though.

Hope this is not seen as a racist comment, but Xav is a model citizen, and would be a great influence around the club for troubled souls such as Lovett.... The indigenous boys no question have a link with each other,Lovett would do good to be around Xavier.

If there's any truth to this then that would be the type of trade i'd be looking at.

the web version is definitely Raph (idiots). The print version has a pic of Xavier, but he is in his Saints hoodie and clearly just a generic pic attached to the story.

I want X to stay and Raph too, though admit he is going to have to work hard to shake off any legacy attached to his Grand Final form

Why would the medical people put so much effort into him when we were going to trade him?

Ive got a really bad feeling that we are going to lose both our first two picks in the 2001 draft for not nearly enough.....

The risk to return in keeping them is far greater than trading them for a couple of non-first-round picks which I'm expecting to happen.

Not f****** happy.

If he met with Brisbane it's not a good sign.
I doubt there's any chance I'd swap him for a 4th round pick. That's about pick 60, which in an apparently "thin" draft, would be the equivalent of pick 75, or higher, in a stronger one. As if X isn't worth much more than that! If he gets his body right, he could play a heap more top quality footy. Plus he's apparently a great bloke, which you don't just get rid of, for little return.
I really rate him, but perhaps our match committee don't, which would explain why they didn't pick him in round 2, or whenever it was, when a spot opened up. I thought for sure he would have been picked, as he'd apparently been BOG in the past 3 VFL/practise games, but they inexplicably picked Robert Eddy, which I am still yet to comprehend. That may have been the final straw for X at St K.
If they didn't pick him then, after being a regular in our side for years (when not injured), there's probably little chance he'll get a game for us next year, now that he's a year older, has not been a regular for over a year and has just had a knee reco. Lovett coming in will make it even harder.
So his future doesn't look bright with us, but I'd still want a hell of a lot better than pick 60 for him, if he left.
I'd be very disappointed to see him go (I'd probably still rather have him, than Raph), but maybe our match committee want to offload those who are injury-prone.

Remember Xavier is still only 24 years old going into the peak of his playing career. HE'S A KEEPER!!
he's 26
yep and it's David Misson.

If we haven't seen the best of a player by 26 yo, then it wont happen.. X has silky skills, but I don't think he has ever had big leg speed, and after all the leg-related injuries, he will only slow down, so if RL want's to retain him, I see a forward pocket role or maybe a half forward flank at the best.

I don't think there's any point trading X we wouldn't get much and he's worth more to us than anyone else at this stage.

Duty of care. He did his knee playing for us. Our responsibility to make sure he gets back to his best.

The Lions have been busy this week trying to bolster their playing stocks, now they just have to find a decent coach.....
