Brilliant News. If Drain also convinced Ball to stay on this trip he is worth his weight in Gold.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Steady on.
A 'top 5' draft pick is a very good Aussie Rules footballer.
Tommy Walsh may prove to be an inspired draftee, when he learns how to play the game.
Hopefully that happens and doen't take too long a time.
He sounds athletic and doesn't take a backward step so he should be good defensively but let's all wait and see if he has the gaol kicking acuracy required with the sherrin!
I'm hoping so as he looks alike he could be a very valuable inclusion if he could fill that tall 3rd forward role for us. This could give every other team's defensive coaches a big headache!
Welcome aboard Tommy and good luck, which will come from putting in the hard work to acquire the "Sherrin skills".
"Let me see now!! You are 21 and single. You have a choice of living and working (maybe if you are lucky) in rain sodden Ireland, buying a three bed semi d in strand road, meet a few fat narrie chicks in Fabric, playing most of you club football in the winter, and getting 4 mins of football with Kerry. Alternatively you could play professional football in sun drenched Australia, rent a pad near bondi beach, date Aussie blondes .... I know where I would be heading and its not to the narries club house!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

He should probably get somewhere closer to training than Bondi Beach though, that's a lot of commuting... Welcome aboard Tommy! The GF blues are lifting, bring on 2010!

Reckon Bonbeach is just as good!!!
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

He is the same height and weight as Wayne Carey. Plays like him too apparently.
No pressure on him though
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Devastating news really but it was coming. A marquee forwad like Tommy is irreplacable. All the best Tommy thanks for all your heroics this year. Big problem for GAA if this is going to become a trend, losing our brightest talent is a serious concern.
He is by far the biggest name in Gaelic football to have gone to AFL.
it is a disaster from our point of view. This is a huge loss, you can't coach breeding size or class. I guess we will be watching The Saints from time to time just to see how the move works out.

A 'top 5' draft pick is a very good Aussie Rules footballer.
Xavier Clarke was top 5 in the 2001 superdraft.
We gave him away for pick 60 in a compromised draft.
That values him at pick 90 (late round 5) in a normal draft.
But Tommy is going to be top 3 value.

By the way Narries is the nickname for his club Kerins O'Rahilly's which plays in the Kerry GAA competition.

Bomber Thompson sighted with a big wet patch around the crutch of his trousers, shortly after reading the news.
