here is what drain thinks about our draftees....
No.32 - Nicholas Winmar
DOB: 27/04/91, Height: 189cm, Weight: 77kg
Recruited from: Claremont
"He's a running half-back winger, 190cm tall, and played for both the WA state team and Claremont in the Colts premiership team this year.
"He's got some work to do with his development but all young players do. The family link to Nicky is also a nice story but at the end of the day, it's all about actions and him playing football. It's a nice bonus though."
No.60 - Jesse Smith
DOB: 29/09/86, Height: 191cm, Weight: 83kg
Recruited from: North Melbourne
"Jesse has had a number of issues with injury over the last couple of years but he's a bonafide AFL talent. We had it in the back of our minds that if some of our key preference young players weren't there, Jesse would be a great get for us based on pure talent.
"We've got really strong support from our medical team that they think they can get Jesse up. We think our medical team from the past two years has been really strong with our injury rate so that's a challenge for them. If we can get him up, he's a top 10 pick.
"We had the interview with him last week, as well as a medical check. We were pretty clear with where Jesse sat and we're happy to get him. He'll be a project for us in getting him right."
No.64 - Adam Pattison
DOB: 05/03/86, Height: 198cm, Weight: 97kg
Recruited from: Richmond
"We see Adam as a reasonable option given our list demographics of rucks. We've got two really experienced ruckmen who did a great job for us over the last two years with Michael Gardiner and Steven King, and then we've got Ben McEvoy and Rhys Stanley.
"We didn't really have a ruck in the middle and we just figured with what we learned in getting Zac Dawson to the club last year to have that tall back option when Max Hudghton went down, it would be very handy to have another ruck around who has played 60 games.
"His profile at the interview was really strong as well; he seems like a self-starting competitive person and has a strong personality."
No.77 - Will Johnson
DOB: 26/10/89, Height: 191cm, Weight: 90kg
Recruited from: Sandringham
"We're really pleased to get Will. He's one we had in the back of our mind for awhile and we've been keeping a really close eye on him at Sandy.
"He's only 19 but we see that he'll play AFL senior football next year as a tall back. He played some really good roles at Sandringham and came off a shoulder reconstruction from the year before. He started off this year at Collegians and ended up playing two thirds of the year for Sandy seniors.
"He did some good jobs on some players in the VFL and we think he's a strong athlete with a really good upside. We see him as a Matthew Egan type and he's physically ready to play AFL football."
No.87 - Zac Dawson (promoted rookie)
DOB: 22/02/86, Height: 195cm, Weight: 95kg
Recruited from: St Kilda
"Zac filled the hole with Max being out in the early part of the year and then he held his spot. We'll look for more improvement from him next year but it was really a no-brainer he was going to get upgraded."
No.93 - Luke Miles (promoted rookie)
DOB: 30/10/86, Height: 186cm, Weight: 78kg
Recruited from: St Kilda
"He's one that has been on the rookie list for two years now and we really felt he deserved his chance. He probably would have played senior football late in the year but he got injured with an ankle. He's got really good pace and carries the football and you can't have enough of those players on your list. He's physically and mentally ready to go."
