2nd Update-The Roooooooo chant is starting!!
Saint Bev mentioned it this week and I suggested it a couple of years ago.
And Belfast Saint suggested Rooee like cooee.
I think every time Roo gets the ball we should chant,
"Rooooooeeeeeee"
Let's drown out those opposition plebs.
IT'S TIME.
In Round 2, the Rooooooo chant was audible, so let's keep it up. It was exciting.

That would sound great, especially if everyone could do it in tandem for maybe 3 seconds (when he marks the ball or kicks a goal, etc).BelfastSaint wrote:What about Rooooooeeee based on the Aussie Cooee shout ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooee
As someone else mentioned, you don't want it to sound like "Boo" which it would if it was long and drawn out.

How about a simultaneous cry of
REEEEE - VOOOOOLT
with one finger on the left hand placed above the upper lip,
and the right arm and hand fully extended upwards at 45 degrees.

Not a bad idea, markp, might just work. Although it amazes me when I am at the footy and I see people sit through a whole game without cheering once. I lose my voice every game even at home!!markp wrote:We could just cheer like we always have... and clap and sing the song when the players run out for that matter too.
If everyone does do that this week, just remenber it was my idea!

You want 20,000 people to all chant a two syllable word at the same time?
Have a think about that....
The reason Rooooooo works is it is one syllable, thus the effect and timing is audible and easy respectively.
It worked for Riccuitto......And its been happening with Roey for a while.
If you could get it in unison it would sound fantastic... but there would need to be some cue, like after a mark, or after a goal... Rooooo for 3 seconds and then the "ee".Spinner wrote:BelfastSaint wrote:What about Rooooooeeee based on the Aussie Cooee shout ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooee

20,000 saints supporters around a 400 meter radius in unison.....
High expectations I think....Pushing unrealistic.
Yeah, it would be pushing it. I've seen things on YouTube where a stadium full of English soccer fans are able to sing, so it's not impossible.Spinner wrote:battye wrote:If you could get it in unison it would sound fantastic... but there would need to be some cue, like after a mark, or after a goal... I guess that why I suggested Roooooo. To drown out the Boooooo but I got shut down
So do both. It doesn't have to be the Boston Philharmonic Choir. As long as people do it. People might just join in for the eeeeee part. It will work and will make us smile which a good thing.
The Milney chant worked.
As far as one syllable, St Kilda has three and we seem to manage with that.
