what a disgraceful piece of non journalism.....full of s***....see for yourself.....

"Lyon said he was looking forward to testing his players against one of the best teams in the competition in a finals-like atmosphere.

He said star tagger Clinton Jones, who held North Melbourne captain Brent Harvey to five disposals in Round 2, was likely to be rotated on several Collingwood midfielders - but Ball's name was notably absent.

He nominated Scott Pendlebury, Dane Swan, Alan Didak and Leon Davis as likely opponents.

“He might get a couple of players, as Collingwood rotate a lot, so he’ll probably just have to take a few - three or four,â€

I would play Jones on Pendlebury, by far their best user and most important mid. McQualter definately gets the forward tag on Shaw. I would probably give Bakes first shot at Didak, will get in his head. Dawson Blake and Gwilt get Anthony Cloke and Medhurst and Ray/Geary probably get Davis IMO.

Dont think we will tag Swan, either of Lenny Dal or Joey will play opposite him and get it nearly as much but use it better. Hope Armitage and Ball go head to head at some stages, wont be a backward step taken and will be good to watch.

Might need to drop Pattinson for a more mobile forward, he didnt get near it in the air last week and Collingwoods defence plays tall but run like smalls, Maxwell, OBrien etc.

Hope we persist with McEvoy rucking against Jolly so that Gardiner can get a hold of the undersized Fraser and give us some really clean use.

Maybe, Smith would give us another option for the likes of Davis Thomas Didak also.

Do you think Smith is next in line for selection or are we more likely to go with Clarke Eddy or Dempster who have played senior footy?

Wouldnt hurt to see a first game kid or two early in the season IMO.

Mitch Duncan looked good for the cats in his second game on the wekend.

Would be good to see us have the courage to play a first gamer when others are available with more experience, presuming he is deserving of that chance. Not to say that we have not been succesful in our strategy of limited changes and limited numbers of players used, just that if we dont try different things we dont know if we can get even better.

Shocking article ...multiple inaccuracies as highlighted by other posters.
You can see why Ross gets so annoyed. He was saying in the interview "On the Couch " last week that he keeps seeing articles about the situation with Luke that are very inaccurate. In particular he highlighted the issue of minutes played in the last quarter of the GF where the articles say he played no minutes and people say it as if it is fact when in fact he played a reasonable amount in the last quarter (10-12 mins I think Ross said). Just lazy. They just make it up, and then others go on with the same errors....
The midfielder spent several weeks in the VFL last year and was selected for the Grand Final but spent all of the final quarter on the bench
.

"At the end of the day, a coach and a fitness adviser doesn't make a good football team, they're not the only ones who got us to two Grand Finals." Lenny Hayes. 27/9/2011.

I think Gwilt will go well on either of Medhurst or Davis as he is quick and slippery, can play tall or small and tends to cut out his oppositions running ability. Ball is not playing the sort of footy that warrants a tag and as said by others he is going to be hard pressed taking on the clearances as is. Robert Walls says he isn't in collingwoods best 22 at the moment so he will probably try to prove himself this week. Sad state of affairs for the little gonad left one team to avoid sitting in the VFL now looking down the barrel again.

The article on Ball was written by a "Staff Writer"-- one of the HS faceless reporters, so, more empty talk!

Bakes will towel him up as Bakes does to many a player.
