Agreed would have preferred them at full stregnth.S.A Saint wrote:personally i would have wished if the cats had a full strength team and everyone at 100%..
Would have been a massive test for us without Roo and Gram (remember his last game against them) up against a full stregnth cats team.

Look at the bright side, if some of players can win their one on one's, it matters little if Geelong were full strength or not. Those players will take confidence to store away for later....Finna wrote:Agreed would have preferred them at full stregnth.S.A Saint wrote:personally i would have wished if the cats had a full strength team and everyone at 100%..

don't care if it's a 1/4 of the cats out there.... just keep banking those points so that we are in the best position come finals time.Teflon wrote:I dont want to beat half a Geelong......I will take that......but far happier to win when they have no excuses....Goose is king wrote:Be honest with yourself.
You dont want Geelong to be full strength.
You just want to beat them.
And god how I hope we beat them.

Exactly. Who knows, the cats may never be full strength all year. You take every win you can in whatever circumstances, then have a look at it come the end of R22. If Ablett breaks down in the 1st 10 minutes and then Scarlett shortly after I will be smiling rather than frowning.Solar wrote:don't care if it's a 1/4 of the cats out there.... just keep banking those points so that we are in the best position come finals time.Teflon wrote:I dont want to beat half a Geelong......I will take that......but far happier to win when they have no excuses....Goose is king wrote:Be honest with yourself.

there is nothing to lol at...i would rather face them now at full strength when its only 4 points at stake so we can work out what players stand up against us and the tactics to use to beat them..they are the best side and a win against them with their best players out doesnt test us or benefit us in any way in regards to playing them in the finals..Lenny_Hayes7 wrote:lol at people saying "we want to beat them 100%".. Who gives a F*** the 4 points at this stage is what we want

Chablett was their most effective dual weapon against us... and who we most needed to stop.
I'm happy that we just have to worry about Ablett now.
It's about taking the 4 points now - we have had enough experience against the 2 to have formulated a plan already - so we should welcome an opportunity to just take the points.

Even if we beat them at full strength now it doesn't mean we'd do the same second time around. They'd learn something about us and themselves also.
Besides, if one or more of our players don't stand up against them, do we then replace them with other players who we don't know are capable of standing up?
A win against the Cats is great regardless of what team they field. If they then want to think it will be easier next time around because they are now at full strength, let them think that.
We'll show them otherwise.
