Why no banner?

Post: # 947146Post Enrico_Misso »

Sorry if it has been covered somewhere else.
But I have been to over 600 StK games and never seen the players run out without a banner to run-through.
I've seen a few completely destroyed by the wind, but at least they had made one.

What is going on?

Assumed the rain made it too hard.

Neither us or Geelong had one so I think we both decided to dump it.

Must of been the weather? It was nice that they acknowledged BJ's 150th on the scoreboard and over the PA.

Wasn't happy about no banner. BJ deserved it, raining, so what!

I would definitely say it was the weather. It was absolutely bucketing down the entire time I got there from 6:30ish. Would have just turned to paper mache.

They can unwrap it a minute or so before it is required.
Piss poor excuse.

I suspect the massive intellect of someone like Adrian Anderscum was behind it, in some sort of molly-coddly limp wristed OH&S policy on the run?

They said on the radio that it wasn't allowed because "rain and paper don't mix". That was the only explanation given.

I think next week they'll have the Goddard banner with a +1 on it. I think they did that for someone else or maybe I'm thinking of another teams banner.

I think we had one for Harvey's 351st the week after his milestone at Subiaco.

Definately....we'll have to have 150 +1 next week for him . The cheersquad would have made him a fantastic banner if the milestone ones for others this year are anything to go by. Hopefully they can modify it and use it next week and give us all a chance to celebrate it with him properly.

He deserves a banner. BJ is a superstar and a real heart and soul Saints player.

I heard that the reason they banned the banners when it is raining is because the dye will run and get on the players skin which could potentially cause a reaction.

Pity those poor guys that have run out in the rain for decades.
Are any of them still alive?

Another pathetic decision Anderscum?

The reason for not having a banner on Friday night was coz the *ricks at the AFL wouldn't allow it we were all ready to go out on the ground when ground staff said the AFL had pulled the pin and we would get servely fined if we proceeded to do so. It has something to do with OHS.
The same banner will be used on Sunday with the addition of 151 games and it looked fantastic .

So, banners are banned at all games where its wet? Did I hear right? Because of some bulls*** idea of some sort of skin reaction to dye? Did i frickin hear right?

That is laughable, and a total disgrace if true. W..........T........F?

No. Only St Kilda banners are banned at wet games.......Collingwood banners are allowed rain, hail or shine cause their banners have a "spine" of carbon....
