Pies Game: watching in Singapore

Post: # 953384Post saintsRrising »

Ok..looks like I will be in Singapore with a very long transit coinciding with the Pies Match.

Does anyone know if you can catch the game live in Singapore?

I will be at the airport and can use the SilverKriss Business Lounge.

Is there a sports bar at Chang (since it is huge)?

As my transit is long I also have time to leave the airport.

Any advice appreciated.

There is a sports bar at Changi, from memory they air Star Sports which won't help as far as AFL goes.

The Australia Network airs AFL in Asia but only select matches. If I recall correctly there are various TV setups around the airport so you might strike lucky, but it's quite a long shot.

What Changi does have is free wireless internet (and free terminals if you don't have a laptop). I've used this quite extensively in the past, you can find more information at http://www.cricketmx.com/articles/read/ ... traveller/ - your best bet will be to find a stream and use the free wireless internet.

Ta...the lounge access has free wifi....and free PCs/Macs.

So what is the best way to find a stream?

I watched the saints in Singapore at all places a Starhub store, their lines are so long on weekends for all people buying mobile phone services, they have multiple big screens on showing all different content.
Went back to the hotel and switched on Ausnetwork and there it was the game, this time delayed telecast.

Sorry i am a bit late with this.
Get out of the airport ,, hop on a train or as it;s so dam cheap hop in a cab and head downtown to the Orchard Hotel.
Underneath is "The Roo Bar". Run by a bloody filth supporter named Craig.
He has live feeds as well. Guy has a "slingbox" set-up and shows all the Foxtel stuff in there. Beers cold and he keeps most of the twits away as well.

Sure beats the hell outta sittin at the airport even if it is in the krislounge.

Mention a Saints guy from VN told you ,, oh ,, better not actually ,,

Search his email at facebook
roobar.sg@gmail.com

But don't worry ,, as crackers is a collingwood person he is sure to have the game. Do not make the mistake of going in muddy's or being distracted by the 4 floors. Find Subway underneath the hotel and you've found the Roo Bar

Muddy Murphy's - an Irish Pub, if you didn't guess that already.

And the more genteel name VS is Orchard Towers. Funny that every aussie knows of that place, even if they've never been to Singapore!

Downunder bar @ Orchard Towers will show the game too. I just rung them up and confirmed. I'm visiting Singapore on business and never been there (Bar) but I will tomorrow.

mmmmm.......reading up on the Bars looks like I should have mentioned that I will have my 13 year old daughter with me.

Sounds like the Kangaroo Bar might be the safer bet?

Though of the Bars in The Orchard Towers the Downunder bar sounds like one of the lessshall we say pick-up ones for that building.

I don't do the Downunder ,, the roo is a "girl" free zone ,, just beer and sports ,, and like i said ,, he has the slinbox so gets FOXTEL instead of having to rely on Australia network feeds ,,

where did you watch it ?

I went to the Downunder so as fellow forum sainters. Started 12:30pm local time so no sleeziness in the bar, well may be some sightseeing was a better option after all,,,,,

Hi...thanks for your advice VN Saint..

I went to the Downunder too as I knew TomNZ would be there and it was good to meet him and watch the game with a fellow Sainter.

After TomNZ asked they turned on their bigscreen...plus had several other sets....so the viewing was good despite the Saints not playing too wel.

No Pie supporters either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well despite the result the day was memorable as it meant that I entered another Country purely to watch the Saints play....so just another sign of the lengths that us Sainters go to watcha game.
