I figured out why we never warmed to Dempster
He cant smile. I don't ever recall seeing him happy.
If someone can find a photo of his teeth please post it for me.
As the boys walked into the race after the win he looked as though we had lost.
He was great in taking out Steve J and has made it hard for Bakes now even though Ross rates Bakes as very special.

I reckon Dempster's the shy, quiet, introverted type who struggles to maintain eye-contact with people and will probably see out his days as a reclusive hermit living in remote Northern Territory with nothing but a fridge and a pair of dumbbells so he can continue to work on his biceps.Goose is king wrote:He cant smile. It'd be hard to raise a smile if you believed the majority of the club's fanbase doesn't warm to you and you're going to be dropped for Stevie Baker any moment.Goose is king wrote:As the boys walked into the race after the win he looked as though we had lost.
I reckon he's been pretty good since he came over from the Swans (unexpectedly), admire that he just gets on with the job without any fanfare, or (it seems) support. He'd be in most club's starting 22, so he's no chump.

Others are bagging his Cats game.
Did his job and kept SJ quiet. Sure SJ got two goals, but one was undeserved free kick fora high tackle when he chose to run intoa player with his head down..
SJ does not like close checking players...and that is what Dempster can do. He can shut-down players.
A SJ left loose can snag 5...so well done the Demspter IMO.

That was a shocking decision and seems to be a tactic by Geelong to go in low for the ball so they can draw the freesaintsRrising wrote:Others are bagging his Cats game.

Lovely guy who had a shy smile when we met him at training. Now if you're looking for a miserable sad sack, have a look at Matthew Stokes who still manages to look sulky even when he does manage to crack a smile.
Shattered dreams are just opportunities for improvement. Live and learn, fail and try harder. 2011 beckons.

He's a battler, but he's disciplined and we're way too harsh on him.SainterK wrote:That's the point, I had to go back to 2008 to find a photo were Dempster looks at ease. Maybe he puts a lot of pressure on himself...noob wrote:that pic is at etihad though
And I hope he cracks a smile when we win the flag.

Just out of interest, if you don't mind answering, what course is that?Unforgiven wrote:Man of stone. I go to Uni with him, and he just sits their, on his own with this blank look on his face.
Each to their own, maybe he is so focused on his game (because the pressure is there and he is a fringe player, that he doesn't show much).

Well that at least made me smile.Pwoit wrote:I think Sean Dempster is still dreading his return trip with the aliens so its quite obvious he cant draw a smile.
So many peculiar things about him though:
He might play in 4 Grand Finals before he reaches 100 games despite never polling a Brownlow vote (and never really coming close)
He was unsighted during Autumn 2010
He doesn't smile
Anyone know if he has any close mates at the club?

Not the GF win but the 06 Qualifying Final win by a point in which O'Loughlin kicked the winning goal. Dempster is not a footballer, he is a robot who is sometimes used inr Roos and Lyon coached teams' defences.Pwoit wrote:This one cracks me up - Its probably the GF win and still cant smiledcstkfc wrote:Some classic Dempster non-smiling photos:
