Pies or Cats? Who do you want?

Post: # 982625Post doggerel »

Ok, it maybe a bit premature, but we pretty much know how it is going to go:
- swans beat Blues
- swans beat Dogs
- Saints beat Swans. Saints into GF.

Other side of the draw:

Cats beat Dockers.

Cats play Pies.

Who wins? Who do we want to play?

However well the Pies go in the meantime, a GF is different and it is the first for most of their players. Some prospect they could be worried out of it. Geelong not so, but we seem to match up on them a bit better.

I'd take the Pies at this point.

I know it's a bit premature but I reckon a non-Saint supporter would be tipping a Saints v Pies or Cats scenario. I'd prefer to play Collingwood. I just hope the Pies v Cats prelim is a spiteful slog resulting in a few odd injuries. So the Pies thrashed the Dogs .... big deal. Let's see them in 2 weeks time.

Probably Pies, Geelong are experienced and know what it takes.

The doubt might be there for the pies, and the big stage might get the better of a few of their younger players, and their accuracy.

Geelong.

Please let us play Geelong in the GF again.

Can you imagine GF week if the filth make it?... We'd get third billing.

And after we beat them there'd be 16 page lift outs in the papers about the agony and injustice of the one that got away.

Geelong.

Good point - all we had to do is turn up to the Prelim that year didn't we??

And Footscray nearly beat us last year.

What is that Midnight Oil song called again?

Geelong, I want revenge. And I think Colingwood are a greater threat. Besides, I'd probably vomit if I saw Luke Ball with a premiership medal.

I would have thought that out of all supporters, us Sainters would have learned not to take things for granted.

We aren't there yet.

Exactly, very well put, good call FQF.
But, IF we make it, I really think Collingwood are still clearly going better than everybody else, so I think I'd rather they lose the Prelim due to inaccurate kicking, but I'm not sure that will happen. They seem to be that much better that they win anyway.
They smashed Geelong a few weeks back and we just got over them the other night and Collingwood also smashed us, so we'll need to really step it up another notch or two, if we play them.

Great question, I've been asking myself for the past 24 hours. We're starting to "own" the pussies, and unless it rains again, I'd be quite confident playing them in the Grand Final. Freemantle would be great, but that's just not going to happen. If it's Collingwood, then I really hope they have a real tough PF against the Cats (not Freo), and are physically and mentally stuft on GF day.

I just think it's hilarious that a Cats v Pies GF is now an impossibility.
One of them will fall short in a Prelim (if the Cats beat the Dockers).

I think we could cover them both.

Perhaps we don't have enough big bodied defenders to cover Brown, Cloke, Dawes and the resting Jolly.

That is my only concern.

Everywhere else, we have them covered.

Priority one: win the prelim.

If we make the GF, an awesome well managed and balanced capital T Team, history and the motivation of a cruel loss last year will see us through no matter who we play.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Geelong I think.......Both would be hard....

If we play the Pies, everyone would have written us off and that might work in our favour. The expecation on the filth would be huge.

The image of Nick "Captain Filth never plays on a man" Maxwell holding up the premieship cup just looks wrong....very wrong...
