Ah damn, this is sad news, particularly given the timing. He'd certainly aged a lot in recent years, but we all hoped he'd live to see a Saints premiership. Never met him, but saw him a lot at games. RIP.

Very sad news indeed.

A great father to one of the St.Kilda Football Club's greatest sons.

Only just heard.
Very sad news indeed.
And such bad timing for such a faithful servant of the club pass on 8 days before the glory he was so desperately seeking.

Off Facebook -

Players and coaching staff will be wearing black armbands at tonight's game as a tribute to the late Jack Barker who passed away yesterday morning R.I.P

Anyways, I'll never forget being a 10 year old kid watching saints train at Moorabin with a Saints sticker book and I had this golden sticker of Trevor Barker spread out like an angel. I had no idea who it was till JACK told me that was his son and was a legend of the club. :(

R.I.P. Jack. Condolences to all the Barker clan, and the wider St Kilda community in general.

Was a tremendous honour to meet him - a true gentleman, and as passionate a Saint as you will ever meet. I hope you find a special spot with your boy to look over our fortunes in the next week...

Think his funeral is tomorrow if anyone was wanting to go. Details on the herald sun tribute section.
