Please don't let Robert Eddy be the hard luck story

Post: # 990528Post SainterK »

He just wills himself to the contest, don't think his stats give enough credit to his game tonight.

Things like holding the ball up until help arrived, bumping and shepherding, blocking for his teammates....

Fantastic contribution, I don't want anyone to have a hard luck story this year, but I certainly dont' want Eddy to 'just' miss out again :?

Played like a bloke desperate to be there next week, huh?

So wish he scrambled that goal near the end but the ball just didn't sit. Would have been a deserved reward.

Steady Eddy was fantastic tonight. I loved his attack on the football and he made good decisions with the ball when he won it. He's a definite for next week.

He stuffed up quite a bit from what I could see at the game.

Will watch replay and re-asses, cause I've liked him in previous weeks.

Dempster was quietish, Mini was very quiet, Lenny was a bit down too, Picken did a good job on Goddard...credit to their opponents, but can't stop all of us!

In many ways our least skilled players hold the match in their hands. Robert Eddy fumbled the ball many times, but he also showed the level of courage and desperation that wins matches. It can only inspire more talented team mates. Andrew McQualter was poor. For a small player he is surprisingly slow. But he does centre a number of attacks. He should take the first option more. Sean Dempster earned his spot and only made a couple of blues.

Eddy's hardness at the contest was fantastic - deserves to stay for next week.

I don't think anyone is banging down the door anyway at this stage.

Let's hope he has a similar story to Wojinski from Geelong, miss a loss play in the win the following year!!!

Is he injured because otherwise there is no possible change.

I thought Eddy played a great game and will definately hold his place.
Bakes will miss. They would have played him tonight if they were going to. Won't take the chance in a GF.
No one else beating the door down to get in, and there'd be a few others in line before Eddy. He had a good game against Cats too.
Rex declared him a definate to keep his spot late in the game on MMM. Certainly did his job.

Eddy was terrific - set up a couple of goals

He's great, and I credit Before the Game with his ongoing improvement.

I don't think he's in danger. You'd think the only player who might be a bit worried is McQualter.

I thought Eddy did very well tonight. I've been a little bit critical of him at times, so was pleased to see him do a good job in a big game.

I think Eddy will retain his spot...he was ferocious at the contest. The one who concerns me is Mc Qualter...I would much rather have Jack Steven or Geary in the side than him. Mini is indecisive, makes unforced errors and is inaccurate in front of goal. Tonight, he was conspicuous by his absence.

Tough to replace though, as neither of those guys have finals experience, plus Mini has to atone for last year.

spot on.

At this stage, no changes unless forced by injury.

I thought Dempster did a good job........... Giansiracussa hardly had a look at the football.......... Dempster carried on from the good job he did on Steve Johnson.....2 good scalps to Smiley Dempster in his last two matches.

He did better than a good job. He is going to play in his 4th GF and for someone with very limited ability it is an unbelievable effort.
