Fit Roo
Last year Roo went OK in the GF but did not tear apart the game against a solid opponent in Taylor. This year he is much fitter with the break having done him good heading into this week.
Here is hoping that Nick can step up and dominate ala Carey, Brown, Dermie and etch his name into footy folklore as an all time great.

Re: Fit Roo
Last year Roo was injured & also the weather was not in his favour. This year he did teach Harry Taylor few lessons which he did pass it on to the Doggies.jackal wrote:Last year Roo went OK in the GF but did not tear apart the game against a solid opponent in Taylor. Next chapter will be written on Saturday.

As an aside, haven't Taylor's stocks fallen this finals series...
So sad for him.
So sad for him.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Yes I am aware of his injuries last year. And yes the weather will be a huge factor.
In regards to Taylor, I would not be surprised if he was carrying something this year in the finals. All Australian on his performances over the 22 weeks. But wasn't it great watching Roo blow him up a few weeks ago (likewise to Williams last night)!

gave me goosebumps reading that. God I hope it happens. I can just see Ross and Rooey holding up the cup. Both will become legends of our club foreverrexy wrote:Good post, spot on asessment too. Big opportunity for the big blonde german to go from gun player and elite talent to one of the greats of the modern era, premiership captain and StKilda legend.

Harry Taylor's reputation has been enhanced tenfold due to two jobs he's done on Roo in finals.Thinline wrote:As an aside, haven't Taylor's stocks fallen this finals series...

The 08 qualifying final where it flogged rain,we got belted to the point of embarassment, the ball hardly came forward for Roo to get near it,and when it did he was triple teamed. Was one of the more overated jobs on a star you'll ever see.
Then it last years GF,again it flogged rain, blew a gale, and Roo was injured.
The times Taylor has played on him in the dry he's been cannon fodder. Will go down at careers end as an average defender, that was overated in his clubs great era.

Agree - a fit Roo ( who is effectively only half way through his season) wil make huge difference.
On Taylor, good ordinary footballer. Like a lot of so-called superstars in Geelong and other top teams, they are not really that good. Put him in the Richmond team of 2 years ago and see how good he would look.
Remember all those "premiership" players we ended up with back in the 80's and 90's....
