The Herald Sun's Matt Windley just mentioned on the live final day trade blog (on Superfooty) that he doesn't even think St Kilda are there today. The only club he reckons he hasn't seen there today. So it looks like we may not try to get any trades done. Boo.

Freo were exactly in the same position as us last year. They decided to get something for Tarrant rather than nothing at all...

But I agree the trade is total bulls***.

Its called salary cap. We do not have room for anyone but kids. The Saints said at the start of the week that they won't do much.

After watching Connors and the Filth screw us over last year, it looks like they are making sure they get at least something for him. When are the AFL going to actually do something about the Filth draft tampering? I recall a young player being sanctioned a few years back for sending letters to clubs he didn't want to be drafted by - how is this any different ???

The difference between picks 43 and 44 can be significant though.

A lot of concession picks may be taken between them (43 is last of Round 2 and 44 1st of Round 3)

Still, I guess they got something instead of just losing him.

It's called trade some of those who are on our current list, to free up some room in the salary cap, to go after someone who might actually help win us a premiership, instead of going into next year with basically the same group that have gone to the well 3 times in the past 13 months and come up dry.

Was never gonna happen. Club made it clear from the start of trade week that they wouldn't do much. RL and co want to play the kids, that is where are improvement has to come from.

yeah but the confusing bit is that many on here have been saying that no Lovett, and no Ball would free up our salary cap.
What im now thinking is that we paid handsomely for Ray and Peake

We had about 14 re-signings this year. That would have included pay rises etc. It's hard to keep a strong list together, but the Saints have managed to so far. But the result is a damn tight salary cap.

How could you tell, apart from McEvoy, none have had many chances at senior level.

Yeah i know, thats this thing. Can they make the impact that Collingwoods young players did.

Time will tell, but I truely believe Stanley, Steven, McEvoy will be very good players. Unsure about Heyne, Lynch, Armo, Simpkin etc.

Not that he's a youngster anymore, but Miles looked very comfortable at senior level I thought.
