Great trading by Pelchen :)
I'm not happy.

Who wants fast, attacking players who can kick goals?

Give me defensive role players any day.

Sack Pelchen before he tries to make us into an exciting, watchable team.

Pelchan said ealier in the week we were looking for small/quick forwards...these two obviously fit that need.
So what is the need? Don't we have Milne, Schneider and Siposs?

I had assumed we needed more midfielders and KPPs.
milne is 32, getting old, we will need to replace him in the next 2 years.
sipposs is very young, 19, these guys cshould be come ssaad should be able to come straight into the team next year, , schchneider will move to the middle more.

Just putting it out there, but wouldn't be nice if SS could sponsor one of these newbies next year. :)

Saad listed as 180cm in H-Sun article in July. Do we assume that is wrong?

The Giants were able to trade Saad and Milera under rules that allow them to pre-list any player who has previously nominated for the draft.

This is the clever bit, it's a once-in-a-lifetime deal unless the AFL run another expansion in the future and use the same rules.

As the first club to negotiate such a trade this year, St. Kilda have hypothetically had the pick of the field of VFL-grade mature aged players, and still get to roll the dice again in the top 30 of the draft.

Strange though, makes you wonder if the remaining candidates for the coaching job have all indicated that they will be trying to balance the side with more attack?

Though in saying that, can't see anyone being quite as defensively minded as Ross....I really can't.

Collingwood and Richmond have already been traded pre-listed players by GWS.

Look like reasonable pick ups but I thinkour recruiters may have missed the point - we needed quick medium forwards .. more height and muscle.

We have enough good smalls .. in Schneider , Milne, Steven .. are we building a team of midgets that will be swept aside during the physically tough finals (if we get there).

Where have you been? Collingwood and Richmond had two trades sorted as soon as trade week opened. That Richmond player is meant to be a star (aren't they all when traded/drafted).

Last year, Mzungu, Krak, Richardson and a few others were moved on from Gold Coast. Its a great idea to get someone for nothing really, Saad would have been highly sought, second, maybe third round one would think.

Two and a pick for no more than a pick of near enough to equivalent value to the pick foregone...

Weird days...I don't understand...

Well done (I think).

Saad is terrific.

This has to be one of the best trades I have ever witnessed! Pick 20 in a compromised draft for two promising players and an equivalent draft pick--Good on ya, Saints!

That is fantastic. Looks like a great get and exactly what we wanted.
I've been saying for a couple of months now that I reckon one of our best chances of having a good 2012 is to get one or two who are ready to go from the VFL (or SANFL, etc), so I'm really happy with getting these two. :D

All we need now is confirmation that Tommy Walsh has been re-signed. According to someone in the other thread, TW has already re-signed; I hope this is the fact!

Excellent....

Two good picks.....one small and the other at 185cm can play HF-midfield (which also means HB etc).

They are both youngish, but not young...so it helps address our lists age profile imbalance, but with two guys who could actually both play senior football next year. Particularly the second one.

All this with just downshifting from 20-25...so most likely not much losss talent wise.

Froma quick examination it looks to be agreat move and is in part exactly the reason we gained Pelchen.

Why were these two overlooked in previous drafts if they are so good?

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Barlow wasn't drafted at first, but he was a gun in his first year with Freo. I reckon we did REALLY well in this.

Just because they didn't get picked up then doesn't mean the recruiters were right!

Barlow, J-Pod...
