What do people think our realistic chances are in this one?
Midfield battle

Steven A grade
Armitage B
Newnes C+
Dunstan C+
Weller C
Sinclair?, Templeton?, Saunders?, Curren?

vs

Griffen A
Ward A
Treloar A
Shiel A
Coniglio B
Greene B
Kelly C+
Palmer C

I expect a heavy loss. If we get within 30 points I'd be content. The Bulldogs, Melbourne, Collingwood and potentially Essendon are the teams we could beat this year.
According to what you say, GWS should be a shoe-in for the 8 with this midfield and a very good forward line.
the Griffen in is a massive boost for GWS. he has a history of tearing us up.

Yep Griff has a history of playing well against us. I dont expect that to change now.

Stats wise Griffen struggles against us compared to others. On average disposals per game we rank as his 14th best opponent. Still averages 20.5 against us but is far from as dominant as opposed to other clubs.

Unfortunately for him he now plays for his best opponent, he averages over 29 touches a game against GWS.

The Bullies must be sick looking at that midfield. Imagine if they had kept Ward and Griffen...

And that is why Geelong were into him at the end of last year. We missed Geary badly last year.

I still think we can get over the line - but that does rely on both Joey and Roo playing - if either or both are out then we will struggle. The fact it is in Melbourne helps us.
