So I think that's why Milney is being looked at ...there is a bigger picture here.
I'm not sure why calling someone a homo is an issue?

How is that discriminatory?

I must be old fashioned or out of the loop, but calling someone a rapist imo is alot more insulting, yet that is allowed apparently.

It's gotta be all or nothing, ban swearing in general or turn the mikes off.

Yep the world has gone soft for sure. Just gives me the absolute s***s. EVERY single week Milne gets called a rapist and thats ok, someone tell me whats the difference?

Take this as gospel as its straight from the horses mouth. Milne was asked to go to mediation with Harry O. Milne was more than happy to do so. Milne was told he was not allowed to release to the public what he called Harry O which was HOMO. Milne refused and said that if he didnt he would be labelled a racist if the media and public werent to know the truth. Collingwood came back and said it must be kept in house and would Milne reconsider his stance. Again Milne said he wouldnt as he wasnt prepared to take the added heat that would generate. Collingwood then withdrew the complaint.

What a joke. This is an absolute beat up.

Clearly this is a deflection. Perhaps to take heat off the awful umpiring, maybe to take heat off Swan's night out. Either way it's a farce. Much worse is said on a footy field, it's laughable to think they would single out this one incident. Ulterior motives at play here.

That is PATHETIC. It clearly was not discrimination or vilification. It was CLEARLY a sledge. Not a brilliant one, but none-the-less it was just a sledge. Very disappointed by the football club. For once why don't they stand up for their players, stand up to the AFL. This is very poor form.

Collingwood took at further but demanded Milne play to there rules and not release what he called Harry. Milne refused twice and mediation didnt take place. Collingwood withdrew there complaint.

Maybe Milney simply said "Why don't you just go home, O".

Well at least that's what he should've said he said

I thought it was despicable that the club didn't take it further, to court or whatever other avenue of appeal was available, when Baker got rubbed out for God knows how long based on no footage. Or was it "attempting to strike"? I've lost track of the suspensions.

But to fine Stephen Milne over this - to punish one of our own. Over a media beat-up (witchhunt?). That is terrible. I'm so disappointed that just once the club didn't take a stand. Why isn't the club supporting its players?

Why were collingwood asking for the details not to be shared?

Is it because Harry was using derogatory language too?

Why did they initiate this at all? Very, very odd after the good run they had with Margetts on the night.

Maybe the club was bent over by the AFL's investigation and pretty much required to fine Milne if that makes sense?

It is totally wrong, however we were probably boxed in a bit.

Unfortunately although the "crime" doesn't fit the punishment, it's not the sort of thing that you'd wanna take on with the AFL.

As harmless as it probably was, and as unfazed as O'Brien seems to be, a St Kilda attack on the AFL would simply be portrayed by the media as "Saints fight for the right to use homophobic taunts".

No matter how untrue that is, it would nonetheless be a public relations disaster in these times of struggling sponsorship and membership.

It grates but we just have to suck it up. We have no other choice :(

Its obvious why. Collingwood wanted Milne to be seen as the bad guy and leave it up to the media and publics imagination as to what he called Harry which would have been a racist remark. If Milne told them what he called Harry the only way Harry could say he was truley offended was if it was true. Harry was adament this had to kept in house.

Milney ought to say enough ! He has always said what is said on the field , stays on the field .
Its time for him to change.
Everytime he hears a player or section of the crowd use the R word , he should report it to the umpires and Afl !

He should also drop the use of the F , the C and the P,F,H.
