Another twist in the Hill deal.

Just reported in The Age :

“Hill deal won't happen today
By Daniel Cherny
Bradley Hill's move to St Kilda won't occur until Wednesday.

It can be revealed that part of the reason for the hold up is the fact St Kilda's Blake Acres has headed to Perth to meet Fremantle and that he could yet form part of a deal that makes Hill a Saint.”

Sooooooo......if Blacres is part of the Hill deal, what does it look like?

Pick 10 from Port, Acres and what else? Anything else? Surely not a future second as well. Is Blake worth a second rounder?
Maybe that future fourth from Port.

That would leave us with first and second rounders next year.

Still need to get Jones and Butler. Butler should be cheap.

It’s taken the gloss off getting Hill if we lose Acres in the deal.

I feel the same.

It feels like we must be paying massive overs by including him.

Yes. Clearly it is going to happen. It is just whether Acres is part of the price or not.

If not Acres we will have to cough up more re trade pick/s or exchange of picks.

But Hill will be at St Kilda in 2020. Of that there is no doubt.

How long do you persevere with underperforming players for though?

Acres is 24, and has played 75 underwhelming games in an underwhelming team.

2 Brownlow votes during that time.

I'm not dancing on his grave here, but he is clearly trade worthy.

Although it's seen as a sign of a strong culture - the stagnation of our list has been a problem for us.

If a guy like Acres hasn't been BOG at least once after 75 games, I reckon the club is entitled to wager on him never being that good.

Though where would you play him with Hill and Jones in, plus also the young Bytel in 2020?

That is three players that need to go out. Plus in 2019 we had a massive injury list.

Hill was always going to going to cost a decent trade price. Acres threatened to be good, but at 24 has rarely delivered that potential on the field. So we had to give up something and so I am ok if it is someone who at besr is a bottom 6 for us, and who in reality probably would have been fringe at best in 2020.

Coming up on 2PM and no deals today.
All trade paperwork must be completed and submitted by 7:30 PM tonight.
Either the traders have slept in or they are behaving like children all pretending they want more when in reality they know that isn't going to happen.
They all know what deals they will all settle for but everyone waiting to see who is going to go first.

Apologises to all traders, I have just read that the AFL guys are just rolling out of bed and having their morning coffee before going in to work.
They will start work at 3PM.
A good job if you can get it.

The conspiracy theory is that it's an artificial delay to only allow lodgement after 3pm on the final day to provide news for the coverage tonight... I'm inclined to agree.

Simon Lethlean just suggested on trade radio (not a direct quote) that Hill is basically a done deal, theres a bit of work to be done with Dan Butler, and it seemed that Josh Bruce isnt a sure thing to be traded. Also, apparently Sydney are visiting Zak Jones at his house trying to convince him not to leave.

The Bruce thing is interesting. Apparently not a lot of love lost between the Dullbogs and us and it's really not helping Bruce at all get to the Dogs. Fv<k the Dogs - I'd rather keep the Bruce as insurance than hand them a key forward for a sh!t pick who'd make them a very good team next year.

We're already gettin' hard from behind by the Cats on Jack Steven; have no desire for that incompetent Bains to avail himself of the same pleasure.
