So Jack Bytel

Who has never played a game, coming off back surgery and is 19Yo

Is going to replace

A dual B&F winner who Got 14 Brownlow votes in 2019 averaged 28ppg and was acting captain for 16 weeks?

WTF are you on about

I’d be happy if Jack Bytel ends up as good as Ross, that would make him a steal.

I know, it's like expecting a player who as never played a game, and is coming off a knee reco and then a very serious ankle syndesmosis injury to be an automatic selection for round 1. It might happen but we have some pretty good 'proven' options that might help us win the game.

Who plays ahead of King?

Bruce??

Or guys who are actually defenders or ruckmen???

King played 6 VFL games last season and looked good enough, another preseason and he’ll be ready.

Compare how many mids there are on the list compared to key forwards.

We get an injury, Jack Mayo could get a game

I hope so. We desperately need a functioning forward line. All our tall backs can't all play in the same team so Carlisle goes forward when needed there while either waiting for King to debut. And obviously Ryder and RoMa rotate through. We are flush for options so no need to rush King.

We are flush for options?

Membrey averages not quite 2 goals per game (he’s not even a true KPP)

We don’t have another player who averages 1 goal per game

List our genuine key forwards (players who have consistently kicked goals at AFL level)

Btw
Good thing we held N.Riewoldt back in 2002 after a serious knee injury year 1
He only won the B&F at 19

Max may not be Nick, but surely he’s better than defenders and ruckmen playing forward

How can you know all that when he hasn't played a game yet? All I'm saying is we will have options if King can't be ready by R1 or any other stage in the season.

Because I know we have very few options as competent key forwards

And because I’ve seen him play

And because his talent is pretty obvious

I'm excited by what could become. I hope he is everything we hope but he's got a long way to go and he hasn't taken the first step yet.

Ben was OK

Max will be better, always has been, and he’s a year older than when Ben started.

Not sure if you’ve seen him up close, but he’s an awesome specimen. I used to think Nick looked like a lean thoroughbred... well this bloke takes it to another level physically... he’s 4 inches taller, has bigger legs and is more agile than Nick
Whether he has the hands, the courage, the endurance and the heart is another thing?!

But he’s a freak, that’s for sure

Just to be clear, whilst I'm suggesting we are flush for tall options in the forward line, I'm saying the options are not necessarily full time options or our 'best' options, but rather players that are capable of playing that position and can rotate through there as a stop gap measure while we wait for Roo Mark 2. (RM2).

BTW I have seen him up close, he looks like a tall skinny kid that is a few years away from having a body that can withstand being smashed and bashed every week by angry defenders who hate tall skinny kids they can't catch.
