The moment you realize that if you were Jake, and being a rational human being, as a young father...(never had kids mind , that’s me) ...you’d say to yourself,,
1) outwardly project that you are not gonna give up, wanna play in a flag etc. for St Kilda
2) Get the surgery under the auspices that you are extending your career
3) Know that being able to play with your sons and daughters in the backyard over the next twenty years is the ‘main game’
4) gracefully accept the surgery, do the rehab
5) Play out 2022, 12 games at Sandy, 3 in The seniors pinch-hitting in a latter Nathan Brown like role
6) Expecting another baby, knee concerns, form and pace drop off, retire.
Finish quietly and slip away.
Carlisle career over?

Re: Carlisle career over?
Seems well and truly cooked. It's a shame that injuries prevented him from ever reaching his potential with us. Could have been an absolute gun with some better luck.
Thanks for the effort, Jake. He still played a solid chunk of good footy for us. His game against WC was excellent but his back obviously couldn't handle the strain of rucking. Maybe he had good reason to want to play in defence only - as a forward he would have had defenders smashing into his back at every contest
