Most folks don't have Collingwood making the 8 so we need to be beating these teams if we're serious about finals this year.
Collingwood
Hawks
North
GCS
Adelaide
Must be beating these teams. No excuses.
Agree 100%
Just need to find a way to win this week, bank the 4 points and hopefully no new injuries.

I want to see Plan B …
The bit when the opposition wrestles back back the game, closes down play and we can’t play the overflow running thing.
I want to see plan C..
If the opposition get going on a run, how will we respond.
Against Collingwood, I can’t seeing it get to plan C
Could not agree with you more. Not sold in ratten as a tactician yet
I think it's an issue Alastair Clarkson would struggle to fix with this current list. On field leadership has been an issue long before Lethers famously went public with the problem back in 2017.
Up to this point we have lacked a critical mass of players in our best 22 who are competitive beasts and kick up a gear when things aren't going our way in a game.
Time for this bunch of over paid superstars to get a few bruises.
I'm more pumped about the start of this year then I have been for years.
I don't really have high hopes for us this year, thinking anywhere from 6-10 on the ladder.
Just can't wait to have football back!

It’s disappointing to go into the season with - you could argue - up to a third of our best 22 unavailable for Round 1.
There are very good players among them, too, including (in no particular order) Ryder, Billings, Coffield, Clark, Jones, Hannebery, Bytel.
That is three real up-and-comers in Coffield, Clark and Bytel; our best tap ruckman - and one of the best in the comp - in Ryder; two mature-bodied midfielders who have played a lot of good football (Jones and Hannebery); and Billings, a talented and skilled half forward whose last season was very consistent.
It’s not ideal, but it doesn’t make the season a write-off.
You just hope that everyone who has the chance to make a spot his own, grabs it. Crisis creates opportunity and hopefully with quality due to come back, competition creates excellence.
Fun Fact - This will be only fourth time in 125yrs that StKilda has played Collingwood in the opening rd , the previous three are 1897(First ever game) , 1962( First win at Victoria park since 1919 and Baldock made his Debut) and 1965 (First game at Morrabbin)
- Will also be the third time we have opened the season on a Friday night previous were 2007 v Melbourne and 2011 v Geelong both played at the MCG
