I think we'll go with all 5, Richmond are also going to be tall.
Ryder & Howard come in, just depends on which two of the following miss out, Joyce, Lienert or Byrnes.

Re: Jack Hayes to .........
That’s (in order) a second ruck, a first ruck, a CHF, a FF, and a lead-up third forward who plays tall.
Ratts might consider that too tall (we will find out at selection) but it is nothing that hasn’t been done before.

Ryder, Marshall, Hayes. Only two will be on the ground at once. Hopefully pack launching all the down the line bombs keeping Maxie in the F50.

Ryder's TOG % will be on the low side.

Re: Jack Hayes to .........
I actually thing you cant have
Marshall, Ryder, Hayes, King, Membrey ...... Butler and Higgins
in the same team. There isnt enough ball carriers for them all to play.
Hays is versatile, forward, back, ruck.
But he is behind Wilkie, Howard, Battle in the back line
and King Membrey in the forward line
and Ryder / Marshall in the Ruck.
Therefore should get squeezed out.
But it wont be long before needed again!

To my knowledge Hayes has never played in a key defensive position in any standard of football. I could be wrong but he was drafted as a mobile forward who can pinch hit in the centre and around the ground.
Joyce ended the match all square with his opponent on Sunday IMO. I actually could not see Howard doing any better last Sunday.
Sharman appears the victim of a poor pre season. Hopefully a valuable lesson.
Sharman must have had great preseason in whatever club in SA last year- walks into our senior team and immediately makes an impact. Doesn't say much for our pre-season setup..maybe the Saints need to contact the SA club and ask them how they do a preseason. The guy is natural forward and should be playing seniors now.

Maybe Ratts humoured Rath and agreed, ok Josh on the wing. No good? Ok, and bare with me Mr Rath, how about CHB. Well that seemed ok. Rath 0 Ratts 1. More to come or rather less Rath brain farts? Rath to Essendon in 2023. They will try anything.

Re: Jack Hayes to .........
I think Hayes and Marshell could alternate FF. King needs to be on the arc coming in. Stops teams double teaming him. He kicks better at a distance also. Get a the yips 20m out. If Ryder is rucking, Marshall forward, Hayes could be in the middle. When Marshall in the ruck, Hayes goes forward. Nurse Paddy through games.

Re: Jack Hayes to .........
Put Hayes in the middle of the ground and give him the square to roam in. Not necessarily at all centre bounces but if one of Steele or Gresham Is wearing a tag, have Ryder drop the ball in Hayes' hands. He is solid 1:1 and has quick hands and visual perception. Paddy goes back to cut off CHB, which he does well and Hayes becomes a transition target in the middle.
When Marshall rucks, Hayes to FF Paddy rests. 15 centre bounces and 70-80% game time may be perfect, if the Achilles isn't good enough, don't play him.

Butler King Sharman

Good marking options

Hayes rucks in F50
Nightmare for opposition for kickouts
