We could play at Moorabbin, which might solve the first problems and we could also take over the Dragons and turn them into the Kingston Kings or something like that.
I think when we all buy memberships and get our membership into the 80k range, beggars can become choosers.

I remember we were told we’d have a stand-alone VFL team in 2016..playing out of RSEA park!!

I dont think anyone thought that would happen before the place was rebuilt, no one predicted covid and considering all that, we still pulled it off, raised membership by 20k and got $43m in Goverment grants and we are already recovering our debt and have yet to begin to embrace the full potential revenue that RSEA may bring, not to mentiona regional centre for the development of young footballers.

Ummmm. Thats not how it works. We just get rid of the terrible blue and yellow jumpers and put the VFL list in our jumpers.

Tom Highmore was the pick of the six St Kilda-listed players who featured in Sandringham's 86-point loss to Southport on Saturday.

Highmore had a team-high 32 disposals for the Zebras, who were well beaten as the Saints deal with a lengthy injury list.

I'm guessing Highmore was in the backline?

Fullback from the little that I did see before turning it off in disgust.

Can someone please target Battle, Wilkie or Howard, so we can put Highmores name up for selection. Maybe Nasiah had a few grubbers or something, he only got a few less kicks than Sinclair?

It's true, but he has nothing on the six or 7 playing their currently other than being available, should he be needed.

I am surprised someone has not asked Tom to have a crack as a half-forward. Good hands, Kicj , can jump, reads the play.

I know he came on as a defender and as a late recruit. But why not try forward, especially if the Saints are in dire need and seeming they seem to think Sharman isn’t much chop.

Who pays the Sandy players and where do they get the money? You get what you pay for. The gate and sponsorship at Moorabbin will pay no less than the gate and sponsorship at TBA.
I imagine memberships and priority tickets would be sold out at a premium price.
The nostalgia alone for a rising club would be enormous. RSEA Park is currently an un touched revenue source.

At this point, I would like to point out a point, by pointing to the fact that Cricket Victoria's biggest cash cow is BBL.

Men's games have been played at the MCG and Marvel.

Number of games played at the 'new home of cricket'...Zero

bar one (maybe) two women's games.

St Kilda reserves?

The JO is GO!

No Shane. We just spent $millions on RSEA Park.
Its ridiculous ideas like that have us lumped with the offices and grounds at Frankston. Not to mention we left there because our relationship with the Cricket Club was untenable and found instant success at Moorabbin.

Correct mate. My father took me to every home game at the junction oval in the 50s and early 60s. The place was a disgraceful dump with the cricket club controlling everything and keeping all the money. I hope to god we never play in that joint again. And thankfully my wish is a certainty to be granted.

It looked largely men against boys. And plenty of those Southport guys were big men. Sandy looked like an Uni amateur side trying to field a team during holidays, would not be surprised if some wearing the jumper were rounded up on Cavill Avenue on the morning. And had not necessarily played AFL before. Need to headhunt some grunt from other clubs or its going to be awful.Lost too many big guys in the off season plus our injury list. Not good.

Elite training facilities, packed crowds, reserved seats and Animal Enclosure memberships, exposure at a regional hub for football for advertising.....the list goes on.

Nope.

poor arguments again Saynta..
Very weak.

1) Disgraceful dump...?? Right..So was Flinders Street Station...let's nuke it?
2) I hope they...My father...no one cares about that
3) Cricket controls..it is always a contest...you have to win the contest..it will always be a contest..
4) It's a cricket ground...yeah..they all are..

1996 MCG drop in pitches begin..

Look, i am thrilled that Moorabbin is big and on again.. It is my spiritual home as a Saints fan..and it was a dump when I went.

And I want it to succeed, but i will bite down upon rhetoric that gets thrown around willy nilly with a great might!

I read the nonsense on this forum about it a few years ago.

St Kilda needs a base in St Kilda, period.

But let's move on..if you please.

As for CQ

The move to Seaford, is not based on this kind of argument at all.
I would suggest we look at the Richmond football club's decision NOT to go to Craigeburn and stick with Punt Road... another 'Cricket Gorund' with evil Cricket manipulators.

We left JO and terms were bad, we could have been back in 2014, and we missed out. no need to rationalize it as a good miss. We dropped the catch. Move on and play each ball as it comes.

Now we are back at Moorabbin and it is a hell of alot better than Seaford.

And we are high now, so let us fly.

What a load of crap. You obviously never went to a Saints match at that broken down dump.

Our home is Moorabbin. That's were we were based when we won our first and only flag.

There we are masters of our own destiny and not being held captive by a f****** cricket club.

And for the record I wouldn't give a fat rats if they nuked Flinders Street Station. A vacant lot would be a big improvement.

Spiritual home is where you come from… so the JO

But that place is a cricket ground and cricket vic hq
Cricket is the reason we left there

Our current home is Marvel stadium- where we play home games

Moorabbin is our training base

To have a stand alone reserves would cost about 1M per season
Staffing and coaching
Supplementary Players
Resources

Do we have to fit some of those costs into the soft cap?

Why stop at reserves

Let’s go under 19s

Let’s go back to the 80s
Three games at Moorabbin every second week in the bog getting flogged!!!
That’s the real history of Moorabbin

I dont give a s*** about our spiritual home, Alpaca Paddock. That's where we come from. We played there from 1873 till 1886, 13 years, unlucky for some. Read the the membership email sent out, you do have a membership I assume.
Should I go on.......why not.
We would have a chance to develop the game in our region at Moorrabbin. It wouldn't be hard to infiltrate and takeover the Dragons once we left Sandringham broke and in tatters, speaking of dumps that need a renovation. So we won't be needing under 19's and the development squads have already been dumped. We do have an AFLW women's program though and an affiliation with The Southern Saints VWFL team , so logically, a men's VFL team completes the set.
Marvel Stadium has a life span, we will be around a lot longer than it, so eventually, we will be moved to a new one and the AFL will expect us to help pay that off too.

Finally, the cost of a stand alone team is about $500000

I think it's a fascinating and deep argument, but none of us want to suck any love out of the oxygen we are now feeling, as the mighty Saints resurge forth. Moorabbin is great. I love it..like one loves a tractor in the back paddock, that usually kicks over. I am sad they pulled down the stand at the Neapean Highway end, the Malboro and Winfield signs. I am not sad that we (eh...sorry, those awful morons) don't piss directly into the(ir) VB cans..and I am sure the heart foundation regrets the doughnut van kiosk thing having to move on.

Great move to come back north.

regarding the movements south and north, never forget the huge amounts of cash the local and state governments fund each of our moves, and how the politics and pokies have their hands on the tiller.
