we received pick 48?

Aussie Jones was drafted at 48, Sam Fisher was drafted at 55....I'd be happy for another nothing pick like that

Pffft we can say what we like its a forum... we gave up our 2nd round pick for a 3rd round pick... its not good for a player who has not got what it takes to play afl... he looked soft at the dogs who are not a tough team

I think it's a damn fine result. Ray has had a relatively poor season in 2008, but he's 22 and has averaged 15 AFL games a year over the past 5.

We've given up a draft pick in 31 that, over the past decade, has produced 8 nobodies plus Paul Chapman (star) and Jarred Moore (GOP).

In exchange, we have gotten a draft pick in 48 that, over the past decade, has produced 7 nobodies, 2 father/son picks (H Shaw and N Ablett) and a near-star in Chance Bateman.

So the numbers are well and truly on our side. Well done to the club!!

History of pick 31.

John McCarthy, Clayton Collard, Trent West, Jarred Moore, Joshua Krueger, Joel Perry, Joel Reynolds, Blake Campbell, Paul Chapman, Gary Dhurrkay

its a 1 in 10 shot at getting a decent player

Welcome to St Kilda. In true St Kilda fashion has received a bagging before he has even donned a jumper

Agree with you about Farren Ray. Give him a chance for Christ's sake. Averaged nearly 20 disposals a game this year with limited opportunities in a team with Cooney, Cross, Boyd etc.
I reckon we've done well to pick him up and lose only 17 places in the draft. Well done Ross and the boys.

As for Fiora. Pffft! A waste of space in a STK jumper and deserves criticism.

he is quick, just what we need

He played at the dogs in a team better than ours

he averaged 19.8 possessions in 12 games this year with 2.6 tackles

we could use that at Stkilda

People are comparing him to Fiora

12 possessions and 1.6 tackles

it is 8 more touches and another tackle per game average

Ray had 6 games this year with 20 or more possessions

Last year he played 20 games and had an average of 15 possessions and 2.6 tackles

he is fairly consistent

we all know Fizz's best year was last year

15.5 touches and 2.1 tackles

Ray is a lot better than Fiora ever was

i think we will be the winners out of this trade. the kid is lightning, and with a couple of kg's of extra beef he may be able to really improve himself with us.

he is nothing special, but we definately need the injection of pace into our midfield.
