We can't look at them without giving up a free for a high tackle.
Some of which because we are 2nd to the footy at every contest it seems
They are brushing aside our tackles with ease
We are flooding at all times and when moving the ball out of defence ALWAYS going the long way home round the flanks. High posession footy that is constantly leading to turnovers. Brisbane are far more direct and running a lot harder. Bit hard to tell on the telly but it seems we are letting Brisbane run and instead just getting numbers back. 18 man flood whenver Brisbane are in attack
One postive. Sam Gilbert has dome some nice things when he's been near the footy but its alwyas out near the boundary. Every posession we had inside 50 in that quarter was hard up against the boundary.
AFL has been ruined for me now, theres too many rules and too many soft free kicks. Tbh umps are being nice to brisbane since vossy cant and never will be able to coach, all theyre doing is flooding and copying hawthorns gameplan. Id love to see him be crushed when a team finds a counter tactic since he cant think for himself.
- Umpires seem like they're paying approx 1 free kick a minute; this pbly the most over officiated game in the world... whoever gets the frees gets the goals and late in the 2nd 1/4 Bris just got free after free
- Saints completely dominating possession in the backline and look hopeless moving forward...
Yet another game where the saints can't manage more than 1 goal in a 1/2 of footy
Especially dismal effort considering we're dominating the ruck (cue Barks4ever)
- Eddy's off injured in bizarre circumstances
Standouts for the Saints
-Raph Clarke looked pretty good to half time, a few mistakes including one pisspoor helicopter kick in the first 1/4. Has very good ball handling skills in the wet
-Matt Maguire has looked alright. A few spoils, a few marks, has competed well
-Milne's tried hard but generally ineffective
-Dal's possession has been immaculate but he hasn't gotten much of it
- Ray is working very very hard and seems to be every where. Needs to improve his tackling
-Gardiner has worked his way into the game, reaction time is a bit slow but he's doing okay
Poor
- Skills have been piss poor. Missing way too many targets by hand. I know it's wet but geez it's still a poor effort.
- Hoping for more from Gilbert up forward.
Come on Saints, big effort in the 2nd half. I don't care if we don't win but I'd like to see us play at least 15min of good footy
not sure what is more depressing, our forward line or the new head high free kick count.
Memo to umpires, there needs to be reasonable contact ABOVE the shoulders. Tackles around the stomach, shoulders etc should not be paid. Players are diving into the legs of the opposition to win frees which is not in the spirit of the game.
Not sure what goose is supposed to do in that free kick, play on for mine.
anyway we are breaking down through half forward like usual. gilbert needs some mates (maybe raph is a shot down forward).
Midfield have been disapointing, not picking up their man or second efforts. But everything the lions do turns to gold currently. Not fussed just fustrated.

2013 trade/draft best ever?
Billings - future brownlow medallist Longer - future best ruck
Dunstan - future captain Eli - future cult hero
Acres - future norm smith
Obvious this competition is not a prioroty this year with SOS taking on the senior coaching role tonight..I.m not watching anymore of this crap...I'm off to Main Street Mornington to salvidge some enjoyment for the night...just hoping for no more injuries...thankyou and goodnight

God we're boring. We aren't achieving anything by trying to play boring defensive footy, so I don't know why we wouldn't back our players and see if we can't win on our own merit.
We've got Goddard, Ball, Chips, King, Raph, Blake, Gilbert, Gardiner and Milne all there against 2 or 3 experienced Brisbane players.
I'd much rather go down playing good flowing footy and see if any of our kids have a bit of skill than try to minimize the damage playing crap, flood-friendly basketball rubbish where all you have to do is get to the packs and make a weak attempt at a tackle occasionally.
