Sorry worded it wrong.sainter35 wrote:Well you were wrong anyway, Fitzroy didn't beat us by appeal.n1ck wrote:I have no problems with the result sRr... was just being a smartass
In those days the team that finished on top had the right to challenge if they didn't win it.
They appealed / challenged the result, and beat us in the resulting match the following week!

Is safer that way..for as you can see in tonights thread someone will always take umbridge.Iceman234 wrote:Yes good work you people who organise all this.
Is a shame you disqualify yourselves from the results.
Though I will be back in the main draw hoping to win.

However to those that are upset please remember that the prizes tonight had already been won by desertsaint and bigmicka...and I was just assiting them to find an alternative home quickly.

in an unbiassed way?saintsRrising wrote:The point of asking the question was just to cut out anyone simply trying to wait and hit their submit key without having read anything.
As per the Rules I am the sole judge of the validity of the answers and I have accepted the two winners.
If I wanted to have asked a difficult or trick question I would have done so. That was not the objective.
The main point of tonight was to find Player Sponsors that COULD attend the first event...and to do this in an ubiased way.
We all, including me, would have love to attend. In my case the process excluded me.
Cheers.
look, i am not a sponsor, but if i were i would be annoyed!!
i dont sit on the computer all day

FFS ...St Fidelius wrote:
No mention of senior side or home and away season...
All I am saying is that maybe in future that the questions are not as ambiguous
Day means home and away...it is "common usage"
No need to mention "senior side".
Who in hell described the Hawks in 2008 as the "senior side" Premierhsip Winners?
The problem here is not the question, it is your unwillingness to accept that you were not the winner.

A fairer way would have been for the winner to sell his ticket to someone else, or just not turn up.
I am one of the sponsors and I am more than happy with the way it was done.
I didn't win a ticket and was out drinking with mates when the question was done tonight.
Those tickets were just a bonus FFS.
Good on those who won and have a great night at the launch.

However please note that these two prizes HAD ALREADY BEEN WON....and were the property of desertsaint and Bigmicka.....but that a new home for they had to be found quickly so that they would not be wasted as per Bigmicka's and desertsaints concern.
Strictly speaking this was not a Sponsors Draw Prize at all...but rather my assisting both dessertsaint and BigMicka to find homes for their tickets....and I was pleased to be able assist them.
Both would have been content for me to have just picked someone direct.
Instead I thought that I would create a bit of fun for Sponsors by giving ALL sponosrs another chance to attend courtesy of Bigmicka's and dessetsaint's generosity.
Looks like I erred in doing so........
Personally I think people should be grateful for the generosity of desertsaint and Bigmicka........

No you didn't. Not at all.
Others erred in thinking it was a sponsors draw.
I have no issue with me conducting the next draw, with me excluded from the draw, and any correspondence could be entered directly to me.
It would give you and Mr Magic a chance to participate and not feel any sting.
Not that you should anyway, but FFS this sort of thing should never even be questioned.

Look, there is no baking in that
as i said in the PM, you are one of my most respected posters
I am not a sponsor so it doesnt concern me and i know you have to fill the tickets, but just say i was a sponser and i really wanted these tickets and found that 'if only' i had been on the computer at time of posting i had my chance!!
thats all..
Congrats to the winners
Was advertised over the last 24 hours... and needing a quick response to fill the places means that yes, it is biased towards those who have been on over the last 24 hours....... sobeit...... no issues from me.... glad that people have the opportunity to go.Batnoe wrote:I'm not a sponsor so it doesnt concern me and i know you have to fill the tickets, but just say i was a sponser and i really wanted these tickets and found that 'if only' i had been on the computer at time of posting i had my chance!!

FWIW I'm sure that St Fid is just as happy for the winners as everyone else. He's just a bit more obsessional/precise/pedantic/exact (no offence meant St Fid!) than other people especially regarding Saints trivia.......!

I will repeat then. The tickets had already been won.Batnoe wrote:

ALL sponsors had already FAIRLY had their chance to win THESE TICKETS last week in a process where it did not matter if they were on-line or not.
And yes life is full of if only's.
With this process I let the Forum know basically know as soon as I was asked to help and did so last night so that the tickets were available. Personally I cannot see how I can provide more time than I have?
If a sponsor did not come online from the time I knew which was yesterday...till a bit before 9pm tonight then that is basically tough...I only had the time I had to notify people. No more , no less.
It is an "if only' situation.

The problem here is not the question, it is your unwillingness to accept that you were not the winner.
That's not the problem at all as I have already congratulated the winners on page one of this thread.
The problem is your failure to see that the question was misleading.
Day Premiership is not just the home and away, as I mentioned previously in 1940 the Saints won the Patriotic Premiership.

again your inability to recognise that your question may have been a little flawed is amazing.saintsRrising wrote:As is your ability to be gracious....St Fidelius wrote:The actual question is a little flawed...
.
I suggest you suck it up and move on.
Again I have congratulated the winners and I couldn't give a rat ass if I won.

Why is the 1940 Lighning Premiership only couched as that? Or as you saw the need to qualify it the "Patriotic" Cup.
Day Premiership being the common uage term for what teams win that last day in Sept (most years anyway).
Note St Fid....Day Premiership with a Capital D...and not day Premiership with a small d.
Thus my pedantic one Day refers to the type of premiership and not just merely whether it was played for during the day or night.
Other Premierships for U19s, Little league etc are also not relevant.
If I wanted them included, then the question would have been different.
Any way as per the T&C of this competition I am the sole judge (a clause I put in because after 30 years of volunteering I know that someone will always object if they do not win).

I didnt want to pay to sponsor a player and I wasnt logged at the time but the question was clearly unfair as we have won so many flags. Is it possible that even though I didnt pay that I can have a whinge and also maybe even a chance for a prize in the next draw.GrumpyOne wrote:Oh FFS.![]()
What a bunch of penny-ante whingers you lot are.![]()
Get off SRRs back.
Fair question.... fair answer..... move on.
With supporters like these, we don't need any opposition each week.![]()

I have mentioned that I was not interested in winning the prize in any case.
But, if a question has to be asked it should be checked for its validity.
If that's called "whingeing", so be it.
