Because Joffa there seems to be a prevailing attitude by some on here that if we raise/highlight rule infractions by the opposition, or instances where they are playing outside the 'spirit of the game' that we are nothing but
a) a pack of Whingers
b) never played the game.
In there eyes it would seem to be totally acceptable for players to get away with anything as long as the umpires don't see it and that we have no right to raise that behaviour.
IMO wrong is wrong whoever does it.
Deliberately 'picking off' an opposition player is wrong whoever does it.
Whether it was Yeats on Brereton, Hocking on Harvey or Guerra on Ling.
It's not tough to pick off an 'unsuspecting' opponent when he's concentrating elsewhere.
But what would I know? I only played Amateurs and that's obviously not a hight enough standard to understand what 'real footy' is all about.
And this notion that we shouldn't raise/complain about dangerous practices that the Geelong players were doing because it is 'whingeing' is just nonsense (IMO).
If Baker and/or Milne (to use your 2 examples) had been seriously injured becasue of what their opponents did, would that have been acceptable? Not in my opinion.
Because they had the good fortune to avoid serious injury doesn't make what their opponents did ok.
I realize my view on this is in the minority, but what the heck.
I don't need to see the consequences to understand right from wrong.

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)
