4/12 years interstate isn't that bad seeing as youd'd average 5/22 games interstate a year anyway.

Lyon and Longmire were assistants together though

There seems like there has been a trend over recent years where we play up to 3 of our first 5 games v non-victorian teams. This makes it more difficult to gather early momentum in the season, and it doesn't really matter what the mix of home & away games is.

I'd really like to see Rd's 1,3 & 5 as Home games v Victorian clubs, with 2 of these games v some of the larger clubs !!

We made a fortune this year so i would rather play weak sides early whether they are victorian or interstate although I think we are due for a tougher draw next year. This year was pretty soft IMO.

So by your reasoning shouldn't Collingwood be getting a tougher draw some tine soon? Seeing as you seem to believe the AFL are actually fair in this process.

People need to understand they travel 4 times and all the whinging in the world will not change that. Traveling is overrated if you are a good side anyway. Look at our record the last couple of years interstate and look at the pies. As hard as it is to believe and again people dont want to admit it but the pies had the hardest draw this year of all the top 8 sides so I dont understand what you mean.

By the way I have never said the AFL are fair about the draw. Due to sides that must play each other twice it will never be fair and again it is no use complaining because that will not change either.

This is what frustrates a lot of fans. Why do the afl favor some clubs over others? If the AFL was to publish all the stadium deals, lock in return games, wish lists, club contracts etc that influence the FIXture then we would all have a better idea on how and why it all works !!

Unfortunately they don't care.

The media only half cares and a lot of fans are too fair weathered to bother about it.

The media are the ones to blame - they don't like pushing the AFL too hard, ever!

Gold Coast to host their first home game at Carrara on Saturday May 28th under lights.

It will be against a bigger drawing Melbourne club with the following possibilities listed

Collingwood, Essendon, Geelong, Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs or St Kilda

There's actually a fair bit of expectation and talk around the G.C. team up here, even before G.Ablett was named. They've done a very good job so far with their marketing, etc.

Hope so. There should be 2 games between us and the Pies next year, both at the 'G, one home game each.
3 "hopefully" in the GF

Next year, due to Anzac Day falling on Easter Monday, the following Tuesday, April 26 is also a public holiday.

So there is a chance of a game on the Tuesday after Anzac Day/Easter Monday, provided (I assume) the two team that play on the Tuesday get a bye the following week.

If the AFL are clever, they'll get good mileage out of the byes - they need to have more than one bye per round on average (although it will be one bye in most rounds).

So there you go - get set for a 5 day Easter holiday next year!

SPECIAL!!!

I'm hoping for the usual ANZAC Day Round match v Port Adelaide - going to drive over for the match if that happens!

Queens' Birthday interstate trip would be out for me in 2011 for non-football reasons, but sure did enjoy going to Perth for the Dockers match in 2010.

First 4 games of the season are interstate trips, last 19 H&A are at MCG.

But do they play the most top 8 sides like they did this year?

Yes, they play all top 8 sides, just like everyone else
