Yeah, but I've seen a lot of worse kicks for goal than Kosi.

And most of them are still in our side

Kosi 2010 looked like a shadow of Kosi in previous years -didn't hit contests hard and didn't have his typical aggression. I for one hope he turns it around this year- I think though if they try to use him in the ruck too much, he will aggrevate his ankle again.

what? kosi's not a horrible kick at goal. accuse him of many things, but here's his conversion figures:

2010: 30.16 = 65.2%
2009: 48.30 = 61.5%
2008: 30.21 = 58.8%
2007: 26.13 = 66.7%
2005: 24.14 = 63.2%
2004: 20.10 = 66.7%

career 62.8% is pretty solid conversion, a bit better than riewoldt's 60.5%.

Beat me to it Bergholt, I was gonna interrupt just to say I think he is one of our better kicks for goal.

However please continue bigred and Matrix, I am in full agreeance otherwise. 8-)

Granted.

He is a great kick of the footy. Good range too.

But, for lack of a better justification he's a soft target.

I am pretty certain he will play, but I don't reckon it's rushed back like other 'publications' are trying to make out.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx

ST KILDA forward Justin Koschitzke could make his season debut against Richmond this Friday night, as the team attempts to boost its fire-power in the wake of last week's low-scoring affair.

Koschitzke missed the round one loss to Geelong and the entire NAB Cup and NAB Challenge series after undergoing surgery on his troublesome ankle.

Saints assistant coach Peter Berbakov said Koschitzke would be considered at the selection table.

"He's been in training for over a week and a half now so another full training session today and I'm sure we'd love to throw him straight back in," Berbakov said on Wednesday.

"But it's the balance between the number of full training sessions coming back from some surgery as to whether we throw him back in this week or the next week."

First-round draft pick Jamie Cripps is another player Berbakov said the Saints would consider. Cripps was an emergency last week after impressing on the track and in practice matches over the pre-season.

Koschitzke terrorised Richmond's defence in round 21 last year, slotting five goals in St Kilda's 21-point win.

Richmond defense with no Rance, Tuck, Templeton (and no Cuz as a sweeper this year)...if you were going to drop him back in at any stage, this is the game. Having said that Archer could have a crack at kicking 0.10 too.

Spot on. I usually feel a lot more confident when he is lining up for a shot on goal rather than the other big fella.

I kind of hope he does.

Because my ideal ins would include Kosi and a FF in Archer or Lynch, really reckon Kosi would rock in the (and I use the expression reluctantly) 'leigh brown' type role 8-)

Reckon though it will be

Ins Kosi Cripps
Out Mini Baker

Reckon if he isn't ready, Dave will win the battle with Ross.
Interesting to hear Dave say it'll take four to five weeks for the players to hit their straps fitness wise. I reckon other clubs aka essendon, sydney, richmond - are further ahead with their physical conditioning for obvious reasons.

Does that mean we just have to get through the next two games?

Also - in my opinion you're a pretty odd Saint supporter if you're slagging Kosi off already. He's had his surgery, he's getting back to fitness, we need him... what's the matter with some of you? jesus christ

My own little stab; Stanley or Archer as super sub for Kosi this weekend.

That will improve our speed.....a 6'6" ruckman, with no pre season who is like the queen mary......

Smacks of desperation and another example of not trusting the youth....would rather bring back an underdone GOP than try a kid.....

Why recrui any at all

Well why don't we just recruit sprinters and not footballers then?
Who said anything about Kosi being the great white hope for speed?

Spot on about the five weeks. Our preseason was a slow, somewhat metered recovery/build up. I reckon we are a month behind. Easily.

2010 was a very, very tough year physically for us. We were always going to take a fair while to recover.

And my little digs on Kosi within this thread were purely tongue in cheek. We are a better side with Kosi in it....a FIT Kosi in it.

Cahill kicked a few against VFL POWERHOUSE Frankston. Get him in there!

Stanley MIGHT get his jumper dirty. Get him in there!!!

Lynch may run around like something other than the deer in the headlights that I saw late last season. Give him a go!!!!!!!!!!!! He deserves it!!!!!!!!!

On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Put an unknown kid on the field instead of a 5 goal forward...now THAT smacks of desperation. Besides, after the sky falling in last week, Ross will no doubt be planning a water-tight attack against Richmond's weakened defence, to keep the fans happy.

How about never giving them a game......

If stanley, cahill, lynch as 3rd year players, are that poor.....then why are they on the list?

Cant even be considered for a game....even when we are bereft of fwds

Get rid of them...they havent dominated a game, so how on earth can we select them...

We would rather play blake as a key fwd and an underdone kosi....than play a kid who was recruited three years ago for this exact thing......must instill shitloads of confidence....which is why our kids develop so quickly, i suppose.

Do Geelong and Western Bulldogs fans bleat and carry on like this too? Displacing Brodie Moles with Cooney, when they should be giving the kids a go? Johnno past his prime. Leaving Nathan Djerrkura to waste away on their list, when Stevie J was obviously past it. Lets not mention that hack Hawkins! Etc, etc...especially after R1!
