Re: Where's Wilkes at?
personally I find it quite frustrating that if new players come in to the team and don't dominate right away, we often write them off

Re: Where's Wilkes at?
He's not a new player, he's older than Ray, Polo, Gilbert and Gwilt, and they've all played about 100 games. Wilkes played 20 odd games for the Eagles, having been on their rookie or senior list since 2004. I'm writing him off.skeptic wrote:personally I find it quite frustrating that if new players come in to the team and don't dominate right away, we often write them off
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

Re: Where's Wilkes at?
SW is on record as saying that Wilkes was recruited as a key defender. A big body to fill the gap until Simpkin fills out and can properly take the role (and to possibly replace Blakey if he retires this year)
The time he has spent in defence this year though he has been lamentable. Sandy play him as a forward to good effect, but the time he's spent as a forward at the Saints has been just OK, bar a 10min purple patch against the might of the Demons defence.
I truly would love to be proven wrong, but Im getting the vibe that he's another of the 'Good VFL player but cant take the next step" blokes that we've made a specialty of recruiting over the last few years.

Re: Where's Wilkes at?
Wilkes should come in for Kosi. It's all over for Kosi, what a waste...
Are we waiting for a saviour?
I'm so sick of waiting!
I've been waiting my whole life!
This is a new day!

Re: Where's Wilkes at?
If Wilkes had been playing like Kosi for the past few weeks, we'd be talking about capital punishment…
If we were fair dinkum about rewarding consistent VFL form, Wilkes would definitely come in for Kosi. He would probably be in front of Saad and Siposs too, so obviously there is a lot more to consider than goals kicked in the VFL.
