Gee Saints fans are hard to please!

Rather than looking at the negative, lets look at the positive for once:

Imagine if this happened at a time when the sports biggest scandal wasn't on. Just imagine it.

If this is going to happen to us, it's the best possible time!!

Some pretty naive points of view in this thread. PED use would be almost infinitely higher than the AFL
or it's fans would want to recognise. There is no reason for the sport to be any different to others.
The temptation for glory and riches is always strong and the game is perfect for PEDs.

Now, please please please don't be any of our young talented players. PLEASE!

I hope this does not affect our finals chances.

For a start I just want to say, Dumb, Dumb, Dumb player.

However, It doesnt mean that the player was systematically doping, like the EFC.

As I have said on many occassions, Athletics Australia advise their athletes not to use protein powders etc imported from overseas as they can obtain traces of
other illegal substances. ie The same companies that provide proteins etc also provide substances that are banned for WADA athletes but not for the general public.
So the player in question may have been done because of this. Also their are stimulants that can be taken (ie drink mixes) that contain banned substances. Sandra Perkovic Discus thrower got done this way (6 months) 2 years ago.

BUT, that is why you have to be responsible for what goes in your mouth, on your skin etc etc etc.

Stupidity by the player, but I would hope he wasnt lining up for injections on a daily basis. He will still go though. There is no doubt. No way around a positive test.
ATM the test is irregular, so they will test B sample and we will see.

Idiot player and I am so disappointed.

If you read the article it refers to the drug as being something bought over the counter at a chemist. It may be as simple as a diet drug or strong flu capsules.

Gilbert will be back playing VFL in 2 weeks. Had a genuine injury. Not saying it is t him but saying his injury was genuine.

Hmmm more bad news ... just noticed in The Age that Kosi is down for ANOTHER 3 weeks with his calf injury that originally happened mid week at training. Has already missed 3 or 4. Shame he deserves 200. Would have to be round 23 now if he is cleared of this calf.

Settle Folks;

THERE IS A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN IRREGULAR SAMPLE AND A POSITIVE SAMPLE. Let's all take a deep breath and wait for the facts to come out !!
We need to show Essendon and the AFL how to deal with drug cheats.

IF this is all legit (the story), thn yes, stand him down.

Reality is this season is cooked - I just hope it's not Gilbo. That would be a disaster. We've missed him enormously this last 6 weeks or so.

mods - please change the subject to "Saints in drug probe" it's not just another Saints in the paper issue - this is potentially massive!
I havent actually figured out how to edit a topic heading! But once i do I can edit it.

and on topic.

Oh dear. This is not what i expected to read with my coffee.

I haven't really kept myself current in the EFC thread. When i wanted to start reading it - it was already 30 pages long, then quickly continued to grow. So i basically read the few last pages every couple of days.
Yesterday, I read a post (or a few) along the lines of 'if saints were ever this stupid, i would slash my membership' (not qouted) This sparked a discussion with the bomber husband. I wanted his thoughts on if he will resign with essendon. He dodged the question and replied, 'sounds like you need to knock on wood, you have got a tip off'.

I would like to apologize - I told him to shut up in more colorful colors. I did not knock on wood.

Wow. This forum is a great home for people who jump at shadows.

Wait for the facts before you start potting the player, club, etc...

For now....

By tomorrow morning it will be a "ring" of 14 St Kilda players who thought they were taking Panadol but because it was a darkened room they got mixed up...

Sick of this. Always stuffing things up just a laughing stock - who on our list this season would you even waste a peptide on???

If this was Pies they'd find away for it to just disappear from papers.... cause its dumb old Saints you know there'll be more to come...

I don't think you should be changing the names of threads unless it breaks rules or the author has asked you to change it.

Come on.

Essendon are in deep.
Melbourne are in deep enough.
West Coast have been mentioned.
Collingwood named also.
Geelong have had suggestions.

The above are all in relation to club led systematic doping.

What were being mentioned about, is 1 dude.

On the scale of disasters, this is one of the lowest I've seen at the Saints to be honest.

If, if, if, if and on it goes. The player concerned will be assessed against the WADA Code. The most important maybes reported so far suggest it is an unwitting error resulting in an irregular sample and the potential infraction was not part of a club regime to improve performance, and overseen by ultra dodgy sports scientists, club coaches, officials doctors.

Personally, I think it would have far worse if it was an not an irregular sample with hints at stupidity, but an investigation into a club wide, club sanctioned program involving a number of substances, players and senior club officials and legends.

The WADA Code is inviolable. If it's proven, and it was unwitting and nothing to do with the club, then the club will be fine. The player will be penalised according to the Code, which means he just won't be allowed to participate with those who haven't been found to have violated the Code.

The bloke cops his whack and we move on, with everybody else better aware of just how careful they need to be.

Meanwhile back at Essendope, the uncovering of the club wide conspiracy rolls on. B & M's story this morning is another dirty big bag of fuel chucked onto the fire pit that has Jimmy Hird revolving on a rotisserie above it. He's just about done.

But, like other posters I DO hope it ain't Jack.
