I don't know what the stats are for kids getting seriously hurt at juniors from tackles, I understand why they aren't allowed for the first couple of years, but the same kids have to play against each other at school Etc. and seem to get by, we played brittish bulldogs at school and I don't know too many got hurt doing that
For interest sake, I trained our kids with tackle bags and they loved it, by the time they were allowed to tackle they knew what it was all about...but there is always that one kid
We went to the dare promo and poor old Jason Holmes got given the tackle bag for kids to take speccies on. He thought you'd keep it down for the little guys so my son ran up and nearly kneed him in the face. Kept it up after that. Kids love the tackle bag but you need to set yourself. Theres always some kid who tries to knock you down on the wet ground...or knee you in the face.

When the boy that did his shoulder started playing Auskick we had 'Goose' down to training one arvo, he was doing the rounds due to an injury (prior to the major one). Well he got down one one knee to show the kids something and they all thought it was a good idea to pile-on...poor Matt nearly had to extend his injury time. Funny seeing kids with all jumpers getting his signature too Lol.
